Great view but...
We had a great time at this house and made some sweet memories! But here are a few notes; When we first walked in, we were hit with a musty, old—maybe stale water—smell. Not awful, but definitely noticeable. It was also pretty warm inside when we arrived, so it took a while for the place to cool down and feel comfortable. The house is—50s-60s era—with creaky wood floors and vintage charm with the kitchen and living room connected by a central island that made it a great gathering space. It was clean overall, just dated in places. There were some little oddities—like no sponge or scrubber for dishes, and the TVs were pretty slow to load and use.The host also asked us to roll the trash bins to the road at checkout, which sounded easy until we realized “the main road” was about 100 yards up the road. (Sundays)One thing that gave us pause was the checkout list request to let them know if any comforters needed to be washed. Not sure what that meant exactly, but it made us wonder...The lake/dock are accessible from the property, but you’ll need to go down a hill via some old (1 wobbly) steps, so be careful, especially with kids. The kids loved the bunkbed room, and having a second living space. The view out back is peaceful and beautiful—definitely one of the best parts.Overall, this was one of the more affordable rentals we found, and we were happy with our time there there. There are a few quirks and things to be aware of, but nothing that ruined our trip.
