About the site
Our hot showers and compost toilets are constructed using simple and upcycled materials, and what would be waste from a normal toilet is turned into a resource for returning nutrients to an area of woodland that we have set aside for coppicing, meaning that what you leave behind is turned into trees and woodland soils.
Our water on site comes from our borehole, and goes through UV filtration before being pumped to the taps and showers. It is fresh tasting and has been filtered by the rock beneath your feet.
We ask that you consider what you bring with you to our rustic site, as we are regularly shocked with the amount of single use camping gear these days. We strongly advise that the “Buy Nice or Buy Twice” motto be employed when buying camping gear, and that it never be thought of as temporary or single use. Cheaper camping gear certainly democratises the camping experience, but that should not come at the expense of our ecological stability, which surely is what camping is about enjoying. With that said, there will be a recycling point on site, with separate bins to ensure that none of the waste produced on site goes to landfill.
Seren y Môr is a wonderfully situated, basic site, with simple but ingenious and functional amenities; it’s wild camping with a touch of comfort: slippers and a pipe optional.
