"This property was the best equipped location I have ever seen. The kids and younger adults enjoyed the kayaks and all of us enjoyed the cornhole. My granddaughter caught three catfish, one flounder, and two turtles. She was thrilled. I would recommend this to anyone with kids or are kids at heart. Personally, the desk became my favorite spot with a book"

The home was very tastefully decorated, and we enjoyed the host's personal art, which could be seen in every room. The layout of the home and the outside lent itself to a "stay home" kind of vacation, yet when someone needed space there was somewhere, inside or outside to go. "We found the Jewel Box to be just as described and had a lovely stay. Erik and Lia are attentive hosts and checked with us after we arrived and again the next day to make sure all was OK. We had no problems but I’m sure they would have handled anything that came up. The location is perfect for walking to the historic district; in fact, some of the interesting historic sites on the trolley tour are practically back-door neighbors of the Jewel Box. "

"This is the perfect place to stay if you want to get back to nature! Simple pleasures, nothing fancy, but all the accomodations of home. The sound of the water on the shores mimicked the sound of the ocean at the beach our first night there. The main bed was so comfy it was like sleeping on a cloud. We thoroughly enjoyed being on the water and the beautiful sunsets. We fished, sat on the dock, walked the waterfront, did puzzles, played cards, crocheted, baked cookies, watched a few movies...

"Beautiful property and home, sparkling clean and meticulously maintained. We did a lot of cooking and found everything we needed in the kitchen - utensils, cookware, condiments and seasonings! Plenty of clean towels, comfortable furniture, everything was great. Lots to do in Elizabeth City, but we Spent much of our time on the dock, catching crabs and enjoying the lovely sunsets. Host was very responsive and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful experience!"

"This was the perfect place to stay when this California couple came to Elizabeth City to visit family. Newly renovated property, with (almost) all the necessities for our 5-night stay. One recommendation would be to install a railing on the front porch for easier, safer access for older guests with stability/mobility concerns... and maybe have a cookie sheet for use in the oven. But why nitpick? This place is just what we were hoping for and would happily stay here again!"
