I booked 2 cabins for July 27th and 28th, which I was charged for from the moment I booked them. But due to the fire in Jasper, the highways were closed and the town was evacuated and obviously, I could not use the cabins. I contacted the host, Dawn, to explain the situation so that she could refund my money, but she only responded by canceling one of the cabins, for which the refund is in process. However, the other cabin that I booked and paid for has still not responded to me and therefore I have not been reimbursed. I have called her many times and left messages but she does not respond. I also called VRBO and filed a complaint but they told me that they cannot do anything if the host does not respond. But I find it totally unfair that they charged me for something that I didn't use, and that they didn't even give me the option to use it at another time or another place, because the host doesn't respond. It is definitely a lack of honesty and terrible service from both the host and VRBO.
