My family of 4 loves road trips, this time we had an epic one and thankfully The Hiker’s Cabin at Yosemite Base camp was exactly what we needed on this led of the trip. Our plan to hit all the major viewpoints throughout Yosemite over 2 and a half days was greatly helped by the space and amenities in this great little cabin.
The most important things were clean comfy beds for all, and a full working kitchen to prepare our meals for the days ahead. A 4 burner gas stove, full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, ample counter space for storage/prep, and all the pots/pans/utensils you need for most meals. There was a nice grill on the porch, but we didn’t make use of it.
A/C worked great, ceiling fans (it was surprisingly warm in late September).
A really nice touch was the granola and oat there for us, and some fruit as well as granola bars to take with us. Someone came during the day and replenished the stock of those items as well as freshen up the bedding, etc for our 3 night stay.
They also had large stainless canteens in the cabinet that we packed out full and used constantly on our hikes/journeys. This was an underrated but HUGE amenity for us!
I’m sure I am missing some details, but the most important part is that I would definitely stay again.
Thank you Yosemite Basecamp!
