Dornburg is located in the "Middle Elbe" biosphere reserve and is surrounded by mixed forests, floodplain meadows, lakes as well as the Old Elbe and the Stromelbe and is therefore lined with a diverse flora and fauna. Nature-loving walkers and cyclists get their money's worth here. Architectural features are one of the most beautiful baroque castles in Germany, built 1751 - 1758, the village church consecrated and reserved in 1758 with its organ and the bookshop, which is open daily from Easter to October, and the centuries-old farmhouses. A walk through the village is worthwhile in the summer months because of the very entertaining stork families. The “Schloßkrug” restaurant and the “LPG” coffee also invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
Excursions to the state capital Magdeburg, to the Bauhaus city of Dessau or to the Pretziener weir built in 1875 are recommended.
