Go BearFoot And Relax On Hubbard Lk - Lazy Bear Cabin

Once you stay a week at one of Bear Foot Lodges two cabins (Lazy Bear & Bears Eye View) you’ll start calling it your home-away-from-home. Enjoy the lake by day and a crackling fire at night. Hubbard Lake is one of Michigan’s prime resort areas. This beautiful lake resort offers sandy-bottom swimming, prime-time fishing, snorkeling, water-skiing, canoeing, and has access to a nearby boat launch. Only 30-minute drive to Alpena.

***—> Note- As stated this cabin is on a shared lot with our other Bearfoot cabin. There will be a shared dock for boats, and shared waterfront for lake enjoyment (plenty of room for all guests)! The driveway is also shared, each cabin receiving two spots!
***However, each cabin has its own individual firepit area, grill, patio table, and lake views!

Quick trip
Made a quick family trip to the west side of hubbard lake. Cabin was very comfortable and roomy. Weather didnt cooperate but if you know hubbard lake you know that happens. We had a smart tv and wifi that worked good. That kept everyone occupied. Nice fire pit just outside the kitchen making it easy to get snacks. Everything worked nicely. Very clean. Would stay here again.

Think twice before staying at this property!!!
Think twice before staying at this property! My family booked this property for a stay in July of 2024, & were utterly disgusted with the condition of the property. We immediately turned around and drove 5 hours back home because we were not going to risk our health staying in such a slum. The pictures of the subject property on VRBO do not adequately depict the condition of the property. The property is old, worn- out with uneven floors, trip hazards, and stains on the ceiling. More concerning is the smell. This property reeked of mold, mildew, and a bit like sewage. It appears that the “host” is aware of the issue as there was an attempt to mask the smell with air freshener. Don’t plan on bringing a boat on a trailer with you, as there is not enough space to park temporarily to unload your vehicle before launching your boat. If you do happen to accidentally park on the neighbor’s property, the neighbor will furiously scream at you that you are trespassing & he will be calling the police. The host was an absolute joke! When trying to address the issue, the host & declined to take our calls, and refused to respond to the customer service agent from VRBO. We were on the property for 15 minutes. We paid additional money to have our dogs on the property (which never left the cars) & were charged a cleaning fee. The host refused to refund the pet deposit & clean fee. The advertisement for the property was deceptive. The actions of the host are very unethical & quite abhorrent.

Cute cottages right on the lake Hosts are great Small cottages that have seen a lot of visitors but still provide the basics for a great place by the lake. Parking is very very tight and we were really happy we rented both cottages We would be happy to come back

Cute Cottage on the Lake
My family absolutely LOVED this place! It was a perfect amount of space for my family of 5 (and our 27lb dog). Looking at the lake each day was beautiful! We may be coming back next year!!! Hubbard lake is beautiful!!

The worst!!
no parking, no view, very small, could not even get the front screen door to open all the way. We ended up just leaving didn't see ourselves enjoying our stay with the way the property was set up. And their cancellation policy is non existent, I had tried to cancel 2 months prior with no luck, Vrbo stonewalled me to the owner and the owner let me know for the most part there's no policy to cancel. If your looking to stay on Hubbard lake stay anywhere else!!

Great cabin by the lake.
Was a nice little cabin where we enjoyed ourselves for the week. Plenty of room for everyone. The lake was great. Plenty of wood for the couple of fires we enjoyed.

Cute little cottage on Hubbard Lake
The cottage could use a little TLC, but overall it was great, especially for the price. This cottage is set back a bit from the lake but the views are still amazing. Although there is shared space with the sister cottage, the swings and doc chairs are located between that cottage and the lake. We brought our own camping chairs and set them up closer to our cabin and it worked just fine. The property managers replied right away to all of my questions. The cottage is just like it shows in the pictures.

Back after three years
I been going to the lake since 1959. Every side of the lake has its own personality. Coming back this to the same cabin after a three year absence, with my wife dying and then covid was somewhat bittersweet. Almost everything looked the same except the eastern storm door which had a big dent in it. Losing electric for 26 hours made it difficult during the week. I was surprised when the other cabin ( which is closer to the lake but is listed as no pets.) had renters with dogs. I would have preferred the closer cabin . Overall I brought my new girlfriend and her daughter and they both fell in love with Hubbard Lake as I always have been.

Property was very nice. The furnishings were comfortable and newer. Neighborhood was cery friendly. The pump needs to be looked at. Very noisy. I had read this on another review but thought maybe it would have been looked at. Overall a nice time.

Would not recommend. Find another cabin unless you are a deep sleeper
I didn't get check in info until we were already on the road headed there. Was very uneasy heading out not knowing if I'd be able to get in. The place was pretty clean kinda musty smelling. Didnt get much sleep due to the water pump that runs both the front cabin as well as that cabin being inside the bathroom and extremely loud. Like nuclear fall out siren loud. It ran any time either cabin used water day or night. We actually had to ask the renters in the front cabin to please not use water in the middle of the night so we could get some sleep. Contacted the property manager about it and she said it was above her pay grade and put me in touch with the owner who told me sorry about my luck. He said that it has always been that way and to deal with it. Made our little friends get away pretty miserable. Would not recommend staying here unless you sleep like the dead!
