Most disappointing rental experience to date
When we arrived at the house, we were very off put by the neighborhood. Definitely not the advertised “beachy feel.” Broken down cars and dilapidated homes. Once entering the home, we were greeted by the smell of cigarette smoke and a mustiness that generally accompanies pets. The back door was falling off the hinges and had no screen. The kitchen was filthy. Items were left in the fridge and freezer, and the stove and drawers were filthy. Dishes were chipped and the drawers contained partially used packages of plastic utensils and fast food condiment packages, not to mention bug droppings. Under the sink was filled with old plastic bags and dirty, crumb-filled pots and pans. We had brought food to cook, and we ended up eating out every meal because the kitchen was so dirty we didn’t feel comfortable using it. So much food when to waste. And so many things were broken: refrigerator door (which I cut my fingers on), toilet paper holder falling off the wall, closet door broken and completely unhinged. So many things for kids to get hurt on. The hottub was unusable (we could not see the bottom of the hottub) upon arrival, and the maintenance man showed up near 11pm to work on it. When we tried to use it the day after it had been cleaned, it was ice cold. There was also an unadvertised pool in the backyard that was not locked up. Having small children, it was incredibly unsafe. Overall, this was our most disappointing rental we’ve ever stayed at, and for the money?!?! Terrible.
