"We LOVE staying at The Hungry Trout! We ski Whiteface at least once a year, and sometimes go up for hiking in warmer months. This is the only place we like to stay. It's very cozy, clean, comfortable beds, and convenient to the mountain. Getting into Lake Placid is easy, too. Can't say enough good things about it. "Our family stayed here on a ski trip to Whiteface. The hotel is across the street from the mountain and is a great base camp, especially when you’re skiing with kids and have a lot to prep/do to get ready! We were here during a very large snow storm and the driveway was plowed and accessible even with the constant snow dumping! Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice base camp away and will spending most of your time outdoors. Beautiful view of the mountain! "

"Very pleased with amenities - full kitchen (including dishwasher) and lots of pans, dishes, implements. Responsive two-zone heating. Elevator. Excellent location in center of town - easy walk to restaurants, shops, attractions. Free parking (good deal since town has paid parking). Price was competitive for area. Only negative was the lots wasn’t plowed well - lots of deep ruts with ice, slush, hard snow. We will definitely return!!"
