The Blackberry Cottage at Mountain Paradise

Cottage is in the woods overlooking a pond in the mountains of West Virginia. All one level, four bedroom, two bath, open living area, gas log fireplace, covered deck, outside fire pit. Just minutes from the Buckhannon River. Cottage is located 10 miles out the Alexander/Helvetia Road in French Creek.

The kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you would have in the comfort of your home. There is a starter of garbage bags and dishwasher tabs provided.

We are pet friendly (dogs only, fee required). Must clean up after your pet inside and out. Excessive pet hair on furniture or pet excrement (especially inside) may result in forfeiture of all or part of security deposit.

Wonderful Weekend!
Being originally born in Weston 73+ years ago, living in Ohio most of my life, it’s always good to get back to WV. Your cabin was the perfect size for a family of 7. Price was right, like the online pics, no surprises, just as expected. We hope we left it as you would want, we’ll be back.

Mountain Getaway
We had a great time at the house. Location is great to enjoy the WV wildlife center and visiting the charming village of Helvetia ( the Hutte restaurant is delicious- cash/check only!). The property was nice - the firepit was great and the boys enjoyed fishing. The other property is close by- which may effect star gazzing if lights are on; and noise does travel. Cheryl was easy to communicate with and very responsive!

Quiet Getaway
We were in town for a family reunion and this home was a great place to stay. From the spacious house, the fire pit and the beautiful surroundings, it was pretty close to perfect!

Clean home with all of the necessary items. I feel a binder with the necessary information regarding TV operation, microwave, oven and washer and dryer. Seniors struggle with the operation of new or unusual appliances and televisions. Cheryl as very friendly, accommodating, and responded quickly to our requests for information. WIFI was available and worked well. Cellular service was not available at the house. Deer, Turkeys, Geese and birds were present or could be heard daily. The Whippoorwill's were singing morning and night. Spring is a great time of year. We had 7 adults so the available beds were just right. Home can sleep 11 in the available beds and there is the couch too. Rear wood deck has 6 chairs and a table and there are 5 Adirondack chairs around the firepit.

Absolutely wonderful. We had a birthday party, which included 4 of us who styed at the cabin plus 16 guests and there was more than enough room for everyone. And everyone just loved the cabin. In fact, it may become a yearly outing!!!

We have stayed at this property twice and each time my family and I have the most wonderful experience! Cheryl is such a kind and wonderful host and there are no words to describe how amazing this property is except perfect in every way. It means so much to my family and I that we can bring our fur babies with us when we visit Mountain Paradise and I want to thank Cheryl for that privilege! Amazing Holiday Getaway
The cabin was clean, warm, and cozy. The open concept worked perfect to allow our family to gather and celebrate the holidays. This is the second time we have stayed in a cottage with this host and they never fail to impress. Thanks for a great stay!!

Great surprise!
Planned a weekend get together to surprise my sister. Cabin was perfect. I currently have some mobility issues and the house was very easy to navigate with my walker. House extremely clean and well kept. Cheryl was one of the best hosts I have had the pleasure of dealing with! Can’t wait to go back!

Nice place to get away, relax and spend time with the family!
We enjoyed our stay here, the home was clean, well set up and welcoming! Cheryl answered all questions we had quickly and made the process easy! The location was secluded enough to have our own space to explore and spend time just relaxing, but close enough to a few attractions that we were able to get out and do something daily. We visited the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and did a tour, learned some really neat information, visited the WV State Wildlife Center and saw many neat animals, and went to the Holly River State Park, were we took a 4hr hike alongside the river and up the mountain and under waterfalls! Great place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing and outdoorsy type of vacation!

Spacious!
We had a great stay at Blackberry Cottage. The living area was surprisingly spacious, and the bedrooms were very comfortable. There were four bedrooms, two with Queen(?) sized beds, one with a trundle bed (two separate beds) and one room with bunk beds that could sleep four. Maximum 10 people if the larger beds are shared. Everything we needed to get started was provided. The internet handled streaming movies and etc. very well, and should be fine for most purposes. It struggled a bit with a high bandwidth online game. I would suggest bringing bottled water or a Britta filter for drinking, as the tap water has a bit of a taste to it. It's fine if boiled for cooking, though. We particularly enjoyed a visit to Helvetia, which is only about 10 miles away. Overall, we were very pleased and may rent the place again in the future.

Excellent getaway
Our family came into town for a family reunion and this was a perfect location for us to be. The house was amazing and every morning we could sit on the porch with our coffee and enjoy watching deer come to the pond. Very relaxing, a little off the beaten path, but it was great for our family to unplug and reconnect. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay and for the great customer service. We appreciated Cheryl checking in on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Can't say enough good things.

Amazing place to stay!
From the moment we checked in to the moment it was time to leave, it felt like being at home! All amenities were superior, there was plenty of room to prepare food, sit around and relax. Evenings outside by the fire pit were awesome, lots of stars on a clear night and, so quiet and peaceful! Would truly come here again a heartbeat and loved the seclusion and serenity!

Peaceful place to unplug and enjoy not having to pay attention to time.
Great place! The only thing I would change would be the water - too much sulfur which is likely due to the well being new. I would recommend taking drinking water.

Excellent stay
Property was great and communication with the host was top notch. Only thing I would have asked for was a heads up before we arrived that there is no cell service. This would have just helped prepare for the stay ahead of time. Otherwise everything is perfect here.
