Take a break under the covered back patio with seating for two and listen to the ocean. Our unit has a front and back door for convenience but the keypad entrance is at the front door (roadside). Card operated laundry facility on site (bring your detergent, etc.). Located on beautiful Okaloosa Island, you can take advantage of sunrises and sunsets from the boardwalk or take a stroll across the street through the bayside neighborhoods and discover your favorite spots to watch the sunset. On the island, there is plenty to discover and enjoy including fishing or nature watching from the Okaloosa Island pier, many parks and public beach accesses, hidden bayside nooks, delicious brunch spots, shopping and restaurants, mini golf, ice cream and bike rentals. (* Some of these offerings are dependent on the season you visit.) Our favorite island eateries are Old Bay Steamer, Crab Trap, Stewby’s and Fubar (sports bar with outdoor bayside seating-sometimes the bar and outdoor seating area get lively and upbeat after dark but offers a peaceful waterfront lunch opportunity). If you want to venture off the island, you are only a couple minutes from either Destin or downtown Fort Walton Beach. Convenient to Publix and tons of eateries. On the Fort Walton side, our favorite thing to do is rent Bird scooters and ride around downtown Fort Walton where you can take visit multiple bayside parks, casual restaurants or fancier French, Italian or American local restaurants with sea or land options. We love Bay Cafe, Ali’s Bistro, Magnolia Grill, Sealand and Clemenza’s. If you go in the direction of Destin, the closest of our favorites are Maguire’s Irish Pub, Boshamps, Brotula’s, Louisiana Lagniappe, Dewey Destin’s (we prefer the bayside location over harbor side for the super casual, outdoor, waterfront atmosphere- and watching the heron roost).
