"When you stay at the Hand you're steeped in western history. It's a great old town with lots of shops for unique jewelry and works of art. There are no tv's, no phones in the rooms. A big plus in my opinion. And there's hiking, fishing, shopping all in a short walk from the hotel. Even a bear spotted while I was there. Go there for a relaxing stay among friendly staff."

"Great place if you’re on the road and need a cool spot to get some rest. This is an old school motel in a small mountain town that is clean, comfortable, with a great and friendly staff. And a great sandwich shop right next door. Highly recommend."

"We enjoyed being able to walk off the property into National Forest and that it was secluded (good for the dog, who has a hard time around strangers). We saw a good amount of wildlife, large and small. Great place to stay if your goal is to get away from home and find some peace and quiet. Not particularly close to major tourist attractions, but convenient if you wanted to climb some of the 14ers between Breckenridge and Fairplay."
