The Space:
Benger Garden 2 by Tiny Away sits in the quiet town of Ettrick, just an hour's drive from Dunedin, South Island New Zealand. Dunedin is known for its fascinating mix of history, culture, and natural beauty, with the Otago Peninsula boasting diverse wildlife and stunning coastal vistas.

Having a car is the best way to discover the area. Don't miss out on visiting Lake Onslow, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and activities like fishing and boating in peaceful surroundings. Kawarau Gorge is famous for its dramatic scenery and the thrilling adventure of bungee jumping over the gorge.

For everyday needs and a taste of local life, explore nearby towns such as Roxburgh, Cromwell, and Alexandra. These charming spots offer grocery stores, quaint shops, and eateries,

This rustic countryside retreat is nestled on 5 hectares of wonderfully planted gardens at Benger Garden Cafe & Chalets, with panoramic views of Mt. Benger. A cozy 190 square-foot tiny home with a queen-sized bed up in the loft, a couch on the ground floor, and easy access to clean drinking water from the tap. Split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.

These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower for hot showers.

If you plan to spend your holiday homes NZ escape here, you can order food from a nearby café/restaurant and have it delivered to your tiny house (by prior arrangement with your host).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we also have a second tiny home, "Benger Garden 1," available with 24 hours' notice in advance.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home, the outside garden, and the laundry, which will need advance notice from the land host. On the other hand, guests have restricted access to the garden of the host's private property.

Stay with us and enjoy Complimentary Breakfast every morning! Or choose from a continental selection, including cereal, fresh fruit, and yogurt. Breakfast is served in our café from 7:30 to 10:00 AM. Please inform host in advance.

Benger Garden 2 by Tiny Away is located in Ettrick, just an hour's drive from Dunedin, South Island New Zealand. Nearby, are the charming towns of Roxburgh, Cromwell, and Alexandra. It's one of the finest tiny homes for exploring local fruit and veggie stalls in Millers Flat, and even the popular gallery at Roxburgh.

Our local recommendations:

- Clutha River is New Zealand's second longest river. It's the perfect spot for fishing and picnics.

- Lake Onslow is a man-made reservoir that supports pastoral farming and hydroelectricity generation.
- Pinders Pond is a tranquil place to camp and swim. Alternatively, you can also find heated pools in Roxburgh or Miller Flat if you're interested.

- Kawarau Gorge is known for its stunning scenery and the historic Kawarau Bridge, where you can try bungee jumping—a favorite adventure for visitors.
- Mt Benger has spectacular views over Roxburgh/Ettrick Valley. A high tussock grassland plateau, which can be quite foggy depending on the weather.

- Clutha Trail is the perfect cycling trail that winds through native woodlands, mountains and rivers. You can also arrange a drop off and pick up for a small fee of $20 with the host.

Explore nearby tows:

- Cromwell is a hub for wine tasting and outdoor activities like cycling and exploring historic gold mining sites.
- Alexandra is renowned for its hot, dry climate and offers outdoor activities such as cycling, fishing, and exploring the nearby mountains.
- Roxburgh is a charming town known for its fruit orchards and the Clutha River, offering opportunities for fishing, boating, and exploring the Central Otago region.

Getting Around:
By car:

- Just a 2-hour drive from Invercargill
- Only 1.5 hours away from Dunedin and Queenstown

By public transport: Intercity buses conveniently stop at the cafe en route between Dunedin and Queenstown.

For travelers coming from Christchurch to our property, here's a suggested route:

1. Flight from Christchurch to Dunedin: Begin your journey with a flight from Christchurch International Airport (CHC) to Dunedin Airport (DUD), which takes around 1 hour.

2. Getting to Ettrick from Dunedin: Upon arrival in Dunedin, you have options for reaching Ettrick, approximately 90 kilometers southwest:

- Rent a Car: Renting a car offers flexibility to explore at your own pace.
- Public Transport: Consider using buses and taxis, although schedules may vary, so it's wise to check beforehand.

3. Route to Ettrick: The typical route heads west on State Highway 8 through scenic Central Otago. Along the way, you'll pass through towns like Roxburgh and Alexandra before reaching Ettrick.

This itinerary allows you to experience both Dunedin's city charm and the rural beauty of Ettrick, showcasing the diverse landscapes of New Zealand's South Island.

- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge

- Dinners are available by prior request and not later than 5 PM
- Clutha Trail arrangement with host for drop off and pick up is $20
- Breakfast options are available in our café. Last orders must be placed by 10 am.
- Convenient laundry service can be arranged through the host for an additional cost.

Important note:

- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tiny home experience. All staff on site & at the Cafe were extremely Friendly, nothing was an issue. Lovely garden setting, peaceful. Easy check in/out process. Great communication from the hosts. We had the added bonus of complimentary Breakfast at Cafe, such yummy food. Well done to the Entire team there.
