Onward!
I'm so excited to welcome guests into my mountain cabin, perched on the side of Prospect Mountain. The views from the deck are sublime, and define my home. Each morning you can watch Sundance Buttress light up, and each evening you can enjoy the sun setting to the west behind the high peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park.
My 720-square-foot cabin features two bedrooms on the first floor and an open living/dining/dining area on the upper floor. Enjoy the wood stove from a comfy sofa, chill out with a coffee and a book, or cook up a feast in a fully stocked kitchen. A beautiful deck off the upper floor features a gas grill, outdoor dining table, and ample space for morning yoga or just hanging out.
The home's location is awesome -- it's on the west side of town, so you don't need to deal with National Park traffic each morning as you head off for your daily adventures. The Beaver Meadows entry gate (the main gate to the Park) is about five minutes away. My favorite restaurant, Bird and Jim, is just a minute away (as is our great local grocer, Country Supermarket). Downtown is 5 minutes away, and you can fish in Marys Lake, which is 2 minutes away.
Prospect Mountain is a huge open space, which acts as a wildlife sanctuary of sorts. This means there are a ton of animals roaming around, and you're nearly guaranteed to see elk, deer and other creatures wandering through the yard. Prospect is home to wild turkeys, bear, mountain lion, bobcat and more.
As with all homes in Estes, you will need AWD or 4WD from May to October - remember that Estes Park is about 7,500 feet and we can get a fair amount of snow.
BEDROOMS
Our home offers 2 bedrooms on the first floor.. One has a queen bed with a medium-firm memory foam mattress, and the other has a bunk bed with a full and a single.
LIVING & ENTERTAINMENT
Living Room -There's a smart television with Roku, so you can stream away with your Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sling, Hulu, or other account. The centerpiece of the living room is a cozy woodburning stove (bring your own firewood) which makes winter evenings so so so enjoyable.
WiFi - Our home has free WiFi so you can stream, etc.
COOKING & LAUNDRY
Kitchen - Our kitchen features a stove and oven, fridge, freezer, pots, pans, plates, glasses, cutting boards, drip coffee maker and other assorted small appliances. That being said, there are a ton of awesome restaurants super close by: Bird and Jim, Scratch Deli, Smokin' Dave's BBQ, and the Rock Inn.
Laundry - We do not have a laundry machine, but a great coin-op facility is a few blocks away.
Guests enjoy unfettered access to our home, including:
2 bedrooms
1 bathroom
1 kitchen/dining/living area
Wood stove (bring your own firewood)
Deck with jaw dropping views
Two private off street parking spots
I have turned my listing management over to The Wolf Rentals; Nathan, Nancy and Matt will be your cohosts and primary points of contact.
This home is in a majestic hillside neighborhood on the slopes of Prospect Mountain, close to Marys Lake Road. Our deck has amazing views into the Rocky Mountains and there is a lot of open space nearby so you're very likely to see a lot of wildlife. The property backs up to this open space, and there are mountain lions, bobcats and bears up there. Be sure to lock your car doors at night, and do not leave anything smelly in your car.
There are neighbors, and while they are not immediately near by, you can still see their homes. If you are looking for seclusion, you really need to be looking at places about 10 miles or more outside Estes Park.
Around a mile down Marys Lake Road is The Country Supermarket, with awesome deli sandwiches that you can buy and take into the park during hikes or ski trips. Near the Country Supermarket is Scratch, which as great warm sandwiches, as well as my favorite restaurant, Bird and Jim.
Other super close restaurants are The Rock Inn and Smoking Daves BBQ.
Our home is on the west side of town, which prevents you from getting stuck in summer traffic trying to get into the National Park.
The National Park entrance is only a few minutes away.
During the summer, there's a free shuttle bus that goes all over Estes Park and into the National Park. Just down the road (maybe 3/4 of a mile) is Stop 3, Manor RV Park. Go just a little more to Stop 4 (National Park Village, where the nearby Country Supermarket is).
A winter capable vehicle from October to May is mandatory. That means 4WD, AWD, or a 2wd car with snow tires. We are in a high mountain environment with very unpredictable winter weather!
NOISE
Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise levels.
FIRES
Estes Park nearly burned to the ground in 2020 after the two largest fires in Colorado history burned simultaneously just miles from our house. As a result, outdoor fire pits are now illegal at short term rentals. Also, no smoking inside or out due to the location on a windy hillside.
NONPAYING GUESTS
Insurance requires that nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property. Your guest count must be correct. Note that in the town of Estes Park, INFANTS COUNT TOWARD THE MAXIMUM GUEST COUNT.
AIR CONDITIONER
Estes has a mild mountain climate in the summers but from time to time it can get hot. Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. The cool evening breeze will cool the home down quickly.
BEARS
Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area and can break in!
MINUT
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn't record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It's located on the cieling in the kitchen.
- No parties, no smoking
