Our well appointed cottage is located on a quiet five acre property on the rugged and beautiful Englishman River. From the cottage deck guests can look down into the wild river. Hiking trails along the river go for miles through scenic forest settings. Enjoy the old evergreen forests carpeted with ferns, salal and Oregon grape. Make it a short trip or a long hike along this amazing river.

From downtown Parksville It is a 20 minute drive through farms and fields to arrive at our quiet, charming Island Get Away.

Visit Parksville and Qualicum Beach where art galleries, quaint shops and restaurants abound.

The weather here in this area is mild and sometimes quite hot during the summer and fall seasons.

Quick drives get guests to French Creek Marina where guests can see the large fishing vessels who still ply the waters off our island. The French Creek Pub is a good place for Fish and Chips. At the end of the pier you can buy fresh seafood.

Close to Hobos Pond you can go to the Saturday morning Errington Market, a local farmers market offers fresh flowers, locally grown veggies as well as locally handcrafted gifts. This market is about 8 minutes from the cottage. Also nearby is the Unicorn farm market that offers delicious local meat and sausages.

A twenty minute drive takes our guest to many popular sites. Guests can enjoy a visit Butterfly World, the Animal Rescue Centre and the world famous GOATS ON THE ROOF MARKET in Coombs. This huge market draws guests from all over the world. Do not miss this. The goats are alive! Our guests from France thought we were joking.

At the Petro Can gas station on the island highway take a drive through Fairwinds and Nanaoose. Beautiful homes dot the rugged old coastal highway. A marine and an upscale restaurant are open most days during the summer season. This marina is a Harbour for leisure craft.

From the doorstep of our cottage, guests who love to hike, can take a beautiful wilderness trail takes you all the way to Top Bridge Regional Park where you can walk over the suspension bridge and enjoy the pot holes in the river. Take a picnic and a swim suit and make it an afternoon adventure. It is a very beautiful hike.

For guests who don't hike or swim and just want to relax at our cottage enjoy our large very private deck. This is a peaceful and relaxing place to unwind from the bustle of city life. It is private enough for yoga and star gazing during warm weather.

Day trips include favourite destinations to Tofino on the West Coast or go and explore Horne Lake Caves. Or take day trips up island to the seaside towns of Comox and Campbell River. These are beautiful seaside towns. Day trips can also include some of the outer islands like Denman and Hornby Islands.

A five minute car trip from our cottage takes guests to the beautiful Englishman River Falls Provincial Park with its glorious waterfall and easy hiking trails.

Our comfortable Hobos Pond cottage can host four guests comfortably. Ask the hosts if you wish to add additional guests.

Our comfortable cottage offers has a fully equipped kitchen with a washer and dryer. The living room has two leather loungers, a chesterfield and a TV where guests can watch NetFlix or Roku movies. The cottage has 3 queen size beds. The cottage is equipped with cable and high speed internet suitable for guests who want to work while relaxing at Hobos Pond. The cottage is open concept but provides privacy for all our guests.

This comfortable and charming cottage shares the property with our main house but is situated far enough away to provide guests with privacy.

A very sturdy oak staircase leads to the sleeping loft. The main floor has a full bathroom with a bathtub and the loft has a toilet and sink so the upstairs guests don't need to take the staircase to use the bathroom during the night.

Everyone is welcome. People who come to explore the island and hike, swim, enjoy yoga or just relax love it here. Make this a romantic get away, a family reunion or a girl's get away. Make this a short visit or ask us about our long term stay.

This property has some dangers for small children so we only welcome guests over the age of 12 who can enjoy the property unsupervised.
