"Don’t expect a bougie, star rated, hotel experience. Very home like. Clean enough to be healthy and comfortable. Very local area not a tourist spot. The neighborhood is full of normal Ensenada life and culture, shops and food places. The owners share the kitchen with guests but we never crossed paths except on arrival and departure. Hubby speaks English, wife understands if you speak slowly. Both very nice. Not far from most attractions. Would stay there again. "

"Mr. Gerry has excellent communication. He is very quick to respond and to offer help. Our daughter became ill during our trip and we asked him to give us a recommendation for a dr. and he went above and beyond to set us up with a dr.'s appointment within an hour of talking to him. The outdoor patio was very chill and has a pretty view. We BBQ'd on one evening and the kids enjoyed the jacuzzi that evening. The BBQ grill is pretty old and probably needs to be replaced. The downside of this house...

"location is amazing. there were lots of comments about the directions yet they are EASY. so dont worry. but dont use GPS per owners recommendation which I trust. Philip stayed in touch with us throughout our stay , checking in which was very nice. Owner recommendation for quick local groceries was great. yes, bring bug spray and if needed go to a pharmacy and get Gelmicin which helps."

"We enjoyed the deck at El Refugio. The beds were also comfortable. Nice location and view of Ensenada. 4 stars on cleanliness because there were a few really dirty spots (top of glass over stove and top of fridge) where a simple damp sponge would have done wonders. Hot water appliance also failed and was tricky to get hot water. But we were able to contact on-site person and owner and everything resolved to our satisfaction (I was able to take a hot shower). "I absolutely love this house. I think we have stayed 4 times now. The house is clean and the house is very spacious. With our large family finding a house this big priced this well is hard to find. The house is gated leaving you feeling safe and your property protected. The host always gets right back to you. We look forward to staying again soon."

"This little cute house was comfortable and had everything you need. Very simple. The only thing about it was the area of getting there. Certain roads were closed and very bumpy roads. Also no heater throughout the night it got very cold, but had lots of blankets."

"Jorge was a great host and super communicative. We had a couple of challenges with the property and he was super responsive in trying to get them fixed. One thing I don't think the pictures do it justice for, is there there are actually two living rooms! One in the main space with the kitchen/dining, and another separate room right off the entry with a couch and a large TV, plus the outdoor space. Definitely makes for enough space for a group of 6 to stay without feeling like they are on top...

"Enjoyed our stay. Host was very accommodating. We paid for two nights but only stayed for one night. We are from out of state any wanted to cross mountains before it snowed. So we left earlier than expected. Everything about the house was nice. I liked that it is close to stores and restaurants. I would recommend.."
