All are welcomed to join "Wednesdays on Wilhelm!" The wildlife is amazing. Artists and sun worshippers aren’t the only species drawn to our little island. Our breathtaking beach is also popular with wildlife and ecotourists. It isn’t unusual to be joined by a heron on your walk, see a pelican fishing as you throw out your line, or perhaps you’ll come across a dolphin at play while kayaking the blue waters. Take a walk on the wild side and watch the sea turtle nests come alive with hatchlings May 1 to October 31.
Another fun amenity for the island is the "Stumpy Bus", a volunteer-run free shuttle in the form of a decorated 8-seat golf cart. Grab a cocktail and hop on board to most of the bars/restaurants on the island. PS - They work for tips so bring some cash to share the love!
Finding fossilized sharks teeth is a favorite hobby of beach walkers and you will find many among the mounds of shells. Snorkel in the crystal clear water for sand dollars and everything tropical.
For all you fishing enthusiasts, the area is the second largest marine estuary in the state. You will find hundreds of species in our waters. Nearby Boca Grand is the official “Tarpon Capital of the World”. The area has dozens of boat ramps so bring your boat. We have plenty of room to park. (Local boat rentals are also available through local businesses.)
In addition to being renowned for its fishing, Boca Grande is widley regarded as the most exclusive coastal enclave in Florida and you'll marvel at the historic and famous Gasparilla Inn. Great shopping and restaurants. Keep your eyes open for celebrities, who regularly vacation here. Take a 20 minute drive to a different world! Rent a golf cart while you're there and drive down Banyon Street, one of the most famous streets in Florida.
For your safety and security, an outdoor video camera is installed with visibility to exterior entrance only.
NOTE: Manasota Key was at the epicenter of Hurricane Milton, one of the most destructive hurricanes in history and many parts of the island still show signs of the storm's wrath. As part of the ongoing recovery efforts, there may be possibility of construction noise as other families continue to rebuild their homes.
