room was not cleaned prior to stay
When we arrived, we found the room was not cleaned. I messaged the host who did not reply back for many hours on our day of arrival, her reply was after I went to bed. I have no way to know what time she replied as VRBOs app does not show the time of the reply. The host sent photos of the cleaning dated 10 days prior to my stay. I initially believed no one had stayed in the lower unit over that 10-day stretch, and someone must have come down from the upstairs unit as the door to our unit was wide open. Mistakes happen and I was not going to leave a negative review. However, housekeeping knocked on the door of the lower unit and apologized to my wife that our unit was not cleaned. Said there was a "glitch" and they never received the cleaning order. The host insisted she was talking about the upper unit, and the lower unit was cleaned, but that does not make sense. If she has time-stamps of the cleaning, it is my belief that she had to know that a guest had stayed in the room after that cleaning and prior to our stay. The unit was fine other than that, but I felt that the host should have replied sooner on the day of my arrival, what if I had a problem accessing the unit? I did not see her reply until I woke the next day, and we checked in around 7:00 PM. I never got an acknowledgement that a mistake was made. the host just insisted the room was clean and it was not. I took pictures but apparently VRBO doesn't provide a means in their messaging app for guest to upload them.
