"The property is really cute and it was nice to listen to the sound of waves. There is ample space. We did not see the address when we pulled up so was unsure if we were at the right spot. Expedia sent me the incorrect lockbox code, the property owner sent the correct one. It would have been nice to get the correct one upfront as it took a bit to figure out the issue. "This is a true old style Kiwi bach, a bit scruffy and well worn/used. But that is its beauty and authenticity. Staying by the beach in a more remote part of Aotearoa, I do not want a super-swish, Auckland style apartment. The area is stunningly beautiful, especially Whanarua Bay itself. But there seem to be undertones of local conflict over who can fish, how and where. So be careful and sensitive."
