"A couple friends and I went fishing on the upper James and rented the River's Bend cabin. What a fabulous place! The cabin was clean, spacious, and well-appointed with everything we needed for a 3-day getaway. "This property was so nice, that I did not want to leave. It was cozy, well stocked, well maintained, and comfortable. Not far off the beaten path yet still secluded. I loved hearing the flowing river in the mornings and evenings. Our host, the Rowlands was easily accessible and responsive within minutes. Just an incredible slice of paradise. We will be back!"

"First, the host Alex, is incredible! Stayed in contact before, right after we checked in to be sure all was good and right after we checked out. GOLD star Alex!! The property was incredible! Nice surprise was the soft water system. Fire pit was very nice as well. Kitchen well appointed and clean. Memory foam mattresses and extremely comfortable. Property secluded and private. "Cool cabin, peaceful and quiet. Very basic items were provided. Bring your own kitchen and bath items, like baking dish, spices, cooking oil, condiments, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, etc. Washer and dryer in the bathroom was convenient. You have to hand wash dishes since no dishwasher. Trout in the pond are used to being fed with fish food rather than hunting for natural food. Lol. Saw couple turkeys and couple deer around the pond. Lots of birds and squirrels."

"Another mom and I spent two nights in the Alone Mill Schoolhouse while our sons enjoyed a weekend tour of VMI. The house was close to campus and offered all the conveniences we needed. The setting was beautiful! I wish we would have had more time to enjoy our surroundings! Maybe we will stay here again if our boys become cadets!"

"Place was perfect for our needs. Convenient to multiple places for trout fishing. Enjoyed the river access from the yard. Owner was really responsive and helpful!!! And we have never broken anything on any stays in the past. All in all I would recommend. Bring two vehicles so you can uses the utilize the available boats.
