The Sharlene in Douglas, Michigan, is a charming vacation rental that seamlessly blends comfort, convenience, and leisure. This delightful rental comprises a well-appointed main house and an above-garage suite connected by lush gardens, creating a serene oasis. The main house boasts a cozy atmosphere with high-speed internet and streaming TV, ensuring entertainment and connectivity. Inside, a spacious indoor dining area accommodating up to 10 guests invites gatherings and shared meals.

The outdoor space is equally inviting, featuring a grill and a dining table for 8, perfect for alfresco dining amidst the serene surroundings. The property boasts a fenced-in secure backyard, ideal for pets, with a total of 3 bedrooms offering comfortable accommodation for up to 7 guests. 4 person hot tub added for 2024 season!

The first bedroom, equipped with a king bed, blackout shades, and a ceiling fan, exudes comfort. It includes a full closet, a Saarinen egg chair, ottoman, and a full-length mirror. The second bedroom, furnished with a queen bed, blackout shades, and a closet, ensures a restful stay. The third bedroom, located over the detached garage with a separate entrance, offers a queen bed and a twin sleigh bed. It's equipped with wood horizontal blinds, a pair of wingback chairs, a TV with internet streaming, and a small dining area for added convenience. The cottage has heating and air conditioning with the unit above the garage having its own separate unit and controls.

The property includes two bathrooms, one with a tub-shower combination and the other with a shower, catering to different preferences. For those seeking relaxation, the deck and patio offer serene spots to unwind, while a gas grill (gas provided) facilitates outdoor cooking.

Guests have access to amenities like bicycles for exploration, a Bluetooth speaker for music, and the option to bring along their furry friends, with a pet fee of $100. With its proximity to downtown Saugatuck, bike paths, hiking trails, and renowned beaches like Oval Beach and Douglas Beach on Lake Michigan, The Sharlene promises a memorable and convenient vacation experience for guests seeking relaxation and adventure alike.

By renting this cottage the below is agreeing to the following terms:

(RULES ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED)

1.) No smoking. All of our rentals are non-smoking.
2.) You and your guests are using our home at your own risk. We nor the owner of the property will be held responsible for any injuries that occur at the vacation rental or for any lost or stolen items.
3.) No boats or trailers are to be parked at our rental properties. Tents of any kind are not allowed. There is parking for 3 cars in front of cottage. Do not park in the garage.
4.) Do not move the furniture.
5.) Each cottage has a maximum number of guests that is listed on this contract you must verify that it is correct. That number is not to be exceeded - this includes children and adults. For fire safety, we are required to limit the number in each home. If additional people are found to be staying at the cottage the entire group will be asked to vacate with no refund. Inflatable mattresses or alternative sleeping other than pack n plays or cribs are not allowed.
6.) Dogs are permitted by approval with pet fee. Max 2 dogs. If a pet is on the property then there will be a $1500 fee and it will be required that the owner board the pet immediately.
7.) Damages are to be reported during your stay. If we find damage after you vacate, you authorize the charge to your credit card for replacement or repair or provide another credit card number, pay by cash or check. Damages reported upon arrival will not be guests' responsibility.
8.) Grills are to be cleaned after each use.
9.) Quiet time is after 10pm nightly. We do not tolerate loud groups and college like parties anytime of the day or night. Drinking games are not allowed on the property. Neighbors must NOT hear you inside or outside the cottage after 10pm.
10.) You are at least 25 years old and will be able to verify with valid identification during your stay if needed.
11.) It is acceptable to have a visitors during the day hours but that number can not be more than 1.5 times the maximum occupancy of the cottage. No more than 4 people in the hot tub at a time. Please rinse of all oils and lotions before entering the hot tub as the filter will not be able to keep up. KIDS CAN NOT BE IN THE HOT TUB WITOUT AN ADULT! Hot tub towels are provided. Neighbor is close and must not hear you outside after 10pm. Please do not use bath towels for hot tub.
12.) Please do not park in the garage.
13.) Fireworks are prohibited on the property at all times.

These rules are strictly enforced due to NEW city and township ordinances. This contract is the only warning you will get. If any rules are not followed all local fines, security deposits and any other charges will be charged to guest and the entire group will be asked to vacate the property. This communication is necessary so that your vacation experience is a good one for your group and our neighboring community. Please ENJOY your stay

Great property, but needs better description
Excellent property, well maintained and in a great location. The online description should say the 3rd bedroom and second bathroom are ABOVE the DETACHED garage. This could really mess up a family with small kids. Also detailed instructions for the heat in the 3rd bedroom should be included.

Super Stay at the fabulous Sharlene
Our family loved staying at The Sharlene! It was the cutest upscale cottage in the quaintest neighborhood. The check in could not have been easier. We loved Douglas and Saugatuck! It was in a perfect location close to everything. The house had a beautifully landscaped and fenced in yard with hot tub and private deck. There was a finished extra bedroom and bathroom over the garage. The inside was very nicely decorated and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and had quality appliances. The bathrooms had more than enough plush towels. It was perfect and we will definitely be staying there again. It's a very lovely home.

Great property, very clean and well appointed. The deck and back yard are very nicely furnished with pretty landscaping. The entry to the cottage was a bit complicated and it should say in the directions that the entry is the back door. Overall it is a great cottage and we would like to return.
