"Although on a highway route, I didn’t mind the sounds of traffic. I focused and enjoyed the serenity surrounding the cabin. You could hear the water running in the creek while sitting on the swing on the porch. I used the wood burner quite a bit. Slept like a baby and woke up late every day!!"

"Just what we needed. Such a beautiful place, especially in the fall. Kitchen was adequately stocked but we brought everything we needed. Cozy beds and plenty of warmth. The grounds are gorgeous and steeped in deep history that is explained on a print out in the cabin. We will be back!"

"The cabin was just what I needed as a place to stay to visit the New River Gorge National Park. I did not have a chance to use some of the extra amenities they offered, such as fire pit and hot tub but everything was ready to go, should I have. Cabin was very clean! I would stay again."

"We had a wonderful time. We checked in Friday and we had dinner. It was really nice having the grill. After dinner it was nice to enjoy the pool and hot tub. We went boating at Summersville, so it made it a nice location to stay. We were close to all my favorite food locations. It is a very cute, comfy getaway home. Thank you again for having us."

"I would have loved to give this a great rating. The cabin was exactly what I expected, rustic and private. Our first impression was great. The cabin was clean and spacious. "We really enjoyed our stay at Highland Manor. We were a group of early-40s professionals from the DC area and New River Gorge was our "friends trip" this year. It was awesome! Highland Manor is located very conveniently in Oak Hill, which is surprisingly walkable - we loved how close the grocery store was when we realized we'd forgotten to bring some spices for chili. There's a pleasant rails-to-trails walking/cycling path very nearby which was great to get a little bit of exercise while away...

"The house was cute, very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect. It was a quick drive into town and close to hiking trails. The hot tub was great after a long day of hiking.
