The house was custom designed and built in 1999 by master craftsman Larry Strock of Lakewood, Colorado. It has many vaastu-shastra* features, including exclusively East-West entrances and Southeast kitchen. It has a wrap-around covered porch, knotty pine interior woodwork, and 360 degree views through the abundant windows. The hillside has a number of indigenous trees and native grasses. There is a feeling of serenity and solitude as the house sits atop the hill, even though there are several other homes in the area. You cannot help but love the experience and serenity of this place! The mountain road is maintained all year by the Town of Evergreen. Snowplows make their way up the mountain after each snowfall, so just wait a little bit if the road is snowy before you head out on a snowy morning. (Four-wheel drive is best in really snowy winter weather for the steeper hills.)
*vaastu-shastra is the ancient Indian precursor to the Chinese feng shui, aimed at maximizing the harmony between human living spaces and the energetic environment.
Our Mutual Commitments:
We prefer to rent to guests who are vegetarian and won’t cook meat in the house. If you're not vegetarians, welcome! But please enjoy your meaty meals in town - there's lots to choose from.
