Leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind when you escape to The Farmhouse, a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom vacation rental. Constructed in 1906, The Ruebling House once served as the general store and living quarters of one of Defiance's founding fathers, August Ruebling. This historical apartment sits just outside of St. Louis and combines the original, antique finishes with updated amenities, and offers a convenient location near hiking trails and Missouri's award-winning wineries!

What a beautiful area. This was perfect for a girls trip. The local wineries are very close and wonderful. Very well kept and nice property.

Great Katy Trail home
We love this property and will definitely return to it. It is one block off of Katy Trail and easy walking distance to several restaurants and wineries. Everything worked well and was in perfect condition!

Great place tucked away in a beautiful area
We enjoyed our 3 nights in this area! It was a wonderful property, very cute & cozy. We had 3 generations staying here and we played a lot of games at the large kitchen table. The pull-out couch mattress was very worn-down, but outside of that everything else was in great condition. There is a coffee pot, but no coffee, so bring your own grounds if that is a must for the AM, as there is no coffee shop nearby. The property was well-stocked with plates/towels/blankets/etc and check-in and check-out instructions were very clear.

Perfect little place for a girls getaway!
I had a good experience that would have been excellent had I realized the communication would be through Evolve instead of VRBO. It all worked out and was more my fault than theirs. Once I knew who to contact, all was well. The rental was super clean and cute. The big thing missing was coffee, and with no local restaurant serving breakfast, that was a bummer and caused a delay getting on the bike trail because we had to drive into Chesterfield to have breakfast (and coffee). I would definitely stay again. The Good News Brewery was a gem!

Girls Weekend Getaway
What a cute property, very unique, accurately described, had everything we needed for a fun girls get away. Nice beds, all kitchen items, coffee pot, rocking chairs on the porch for morning coffee. We arrived in the dark and had a little issue finding the entry for the Farmhouse (there are 3 VRBO's in this property), outside lighting was not on - but after walking around the property we located the entry at the back. The General Store & Farmhouse share an indoor entry and the Townhouse has a separate entrance that goes upstairs. We parked in the back, using the alley for entrance. Definitely recommend Daniel Boone's home, a historical gem. We caught the trolley at Klondike Park Boat Dock and visited 4 wineries, came back to Defiance for dinner at the Roadhouse. Great burgers with music on the patio. We wanted to visit Good News Brewery but they were closed for a private event. Like a lot of small towns, everything closes early. Take the groceries you need, there is not a grocery store or convenience store in Defiance. Highly recommend this property and would stay here again!
