Valley View Lodge - 67 Goose Lodge Road

Authentic mountain home updated with sophisticated country furnishings. The large great room has vaulted ceilings, expansive glass, HDTV and gas fireplace; also from this level, access the massive private deck with grill and hot tub with beautiful mountain views; updated kitchen has granite counter tops and new appliances; all bedrooms have new furniture and flat-screen HD televisions.



Lower level has a cozy den with fireplace, HDTV, kitchenette with expansive bar, and spacious entrance.



Private master suite has modern tile bathroom and HDTV.



Canaan Valley is the perfect place to visit in any season. Our cooler temperatures in the summer make it a perfect vacation place to get away from it all and just enjoy the beauty the majestic mountains have to offer; conveniently located from Canaan Valley and both State Parks.

Very nice!
The deck needs a good power washing as the pines makes it slippery when wet. I only mention for safety reasons. The gutters need cleaning out. Otherwise it was great. A beaufuful house! Clean. Property manageR super responsive.

Great location but lacking upkeep
First of all the location is wonderful. Very close to state parks and amazing hikes. Sadly there were quite a few things that this property lacked. A lot of things needed fixed such as light bulbs not working, ceiling fan in the bedroom not working, boards on the deck that are loose and unsafe for small children, and a back up of hair in the shower drain from guests before us. Also the floors were so dirty that they turned our socks black on the first night, the gutters are overflowing with debris, and the porch needed swept off. The windows were very hard to open and close and the internet was having major issues. These things might sound small but when you are paying to stay somewhere a certain level of cleanliness and upkeep are expected. Maintenance came to the home but there was nothing they could do with us staying there at the time. Hopefully it will be clean and fixed for the next set of guests.

Wonderful Ladies Only Weekend
Important issues -- clean modern kitchen and renovated bathroom -- made the place extra comfortable. Cooking was easy with most everything needed was available. Nice to have extra toilet paper, soap and paper towels available. Lots of towels provided. Hot tub a delight. Place lacking a cutting board and lighter for candles. Many light bulbs out. Front door lock a real pain -- had to call management company to let us in. And refrigerator wasn't very cold. Front entrance, with unswept pine needles, uninviting. Main floor bathroom tub extremely slick -- couldn't stand up to shower! Maybe cleaning material?

Quiet and Cozy
Nice property! Roomy with beautiful outdoor space. We enjoyed our stay very much. Only issues are that a bedroom ceiling fan was not working, WiFi cuts in and out, and twin beds slightly uncomfortable. Overall, a terrific getaway.

Great stay & close by Canaan(1st time vrbor)
The house was very nice, neat, tidy and had easy to follow clean up directions. You can comfortably fit 2 couples (queen beds) and 4 single people in this house a 5th might be able to sleep on the couch. It was just a simple 5-8 minute drive to Canaan. There are gas stations and marts close by just in case you forgot anything. The actual location was a bit confusing. If you get to the mountain top office you have gone too far. Go back the way you came and you will see the street exit on your left.

Beautiful House in Hiking Country
My group of friends really enjoyed staying at this property. Pros: Lots of space to spread-out with 2 common areas, hot-tub and grills on site, centrally located for Black Water Falls SP and Canaan Valley hiking, well equipped. Cons: The hot-tub has a known leak and prevented use for 2 days as it was practically empty upon arrival and the maintenance crew did not come out on Sunday despite my phone call, the downstairs is a bit musty (de-humidifier helps) and the towels upstairs all smelled musty despite being washed. With a bit more care and attention this house will be an amazing retreat!
