Gulf-front, at tide line, Great Views! - Sandy Bottoms

Sandy Bottoms is a beautiful 4 bedroom / 3 bath, Gulf-front house on the West End of Dauphin Island, and is nearly identical to its popular sister house, Beach Break.This gulf front home has 4 bedrooms / 3 baths. It has both a covered and uncovered gulf side deck plus a covered sound facing deck.

Dauphin Island is very laid back, non-commercialized island, but has shops, a grocery store, bakery, several restaurants ranging from pizza, ice cream and burgers, to great seafood and steaks.
The island is accessible by bridge from I-10 and I-65. Gulf Shores/Fort Morgan is only a few miles away & is accessible by auto ferry (makes a great day trip).

For attractions, visit the Sea Lab, historic Fort Gaines, play a round of golf at the Isle Dauphine gulf-front course, view birds and wildlife, explore secluded beaches at the Audubon Sanctuary, fish on the beach or at the long gulf-front fishing pier, charter a boat for sightseeing or deep-sea fishing, swim, bike, walk, collect shells, or just plain relax.

As with all of our Dauphin Island vacation rentals, this home is completely outfitted with everything you need for your stay- all housewares, tableware, linens and towels are provided. Just bring flip-flops and a fishing pole

Favorite beach
Overall we had a great time. A lot of storms this week so not crazy about that the water was not the best. The location was very good close to water could set up under the house and enjoy. The house was in decent shape needs several things worked on. Let owner know some of the issues. Not the house owner fault on the weather for this week. So definitely was a great vacation.

Smooth sailing.
The house was perfect for our family. The house rocks you to sleep and we could fish right off the deck! There was a plumbing problem while we were there and the company handled it very well and set us up with a new place to stay. We will be back!

Christmas on Dauphin Island
Property locationqas amazing. Response time from property's owner was fantastic. The house layout worked well. My only suggestion would be to keep up on house naintenance.

The spot was gorgeous!
Beautiful spot, right on the water we had a full view of sunrise and sunset. Overall the house was clean. However sitting on either loveseat in the living area or on the deck furniture left us covered in dog (LOTS OF DOG) and some people hair. We didn’t bring nor do we own a dog. I really do think it’s great that animals are welcome, but we found wearing the fur from an animal we don’t know a little gross. Covered the furniture with sheets, easy fix. But don’t feel like we should’ve had to do that for the money spent. Aside from that the place was great!

Relaxing!!!
The trip was fantastic! We had 2 days of calm water and we were able to watch tons of sting rays swim past the back porch area. That was so cool!!! How many people can say that they fished from the balcony? The house had a great open floor plan with a huge kitchen. We found everything we needed. Bring your own spices. There was a planned power outage for the entire island which was a bit of an inconvenience. However; the management office was very accommodating and gave us a discount for the day. If you are comfortable having the ocean waves come underneath the house, this will be a unique and memorable experience. Say yes and book this beach house!

Perfect in every way...
The location near the West End Beach was private, with beautiful views of both sunrise and sunset. The house is welcoming, open, and nicely decorated. It has a well-appointed kitchen, and 3 of the 4 bedrooms have their own bathrooms. It's possible to back up to the entrance steps with a 4wd vehicle, so the parking was fine for us. Enjoy the sound of the waves, while watching dolphins and pelicans as you sit on the rear deck. We'll be back!

Wonderful House in the Surf
Loved this house. It is larger than it looks inside. Plenty of space, great kitchen. At night the surf literally comes under the house. You go to sleep to the sounds of waves breaking on the sand. Near the end of the island. You can sit under house, in the sand during heat of the day, and still put your toes in the water. deck is huge and spacious, and affords great views of beach and gulf. The only thing we didn't like was the driveway, which we shared with two other houses, and which was covered in sand, and which ended 50 feet from the steps to the house. So unloading when you arrive and packing up when you go are a bit of a challenge as you haul things through deep sand. And if you get off of the driveway, you are stuck, so stay on the driveway. Luckily the other houses' guests parked on the right side and we parked on the left. When we arrived another house had parked on the left, but they had four-wheel-drive and offered to move over so we could be on the driveway. SO plan accordingly for this caveat - but definitely rent this house - the house more than makes up for any inconvenience with the driveway.

The house is located in a great spot! We enjoyed fishing off the deck and the shade under the house is awesome while on the beach... We loved our stay!!! If your looking for a super nice, newly renovated place this is not it....

The place was immaculate. Kids stayed outside so do much. This year the appliance was available. The only c/o was no sharp knife. Several pots to help with the cooking was available.

Fabulous Location
5 stars for location...You couldn't ask for a better location...beach, ocean and quiet! You are in the sand and over the ocean. No shoes required. Open the doors off great room for ocean noise and beautiful breezes. Fishing was fantastic off the deck at night. Caught plenty of fish using shrimp. 3 baby shark, sheepshead, catfish, blue crab even, and a few we didn't recognize. Caught many stingrays on the bay side of the island, although we were trying to avoid them. Beautiful long walk on the undeveloped west end of island. Never busy. Made most meals at home. Great Mexican place Miguels! (Take out)The property manager is great and checked up with us while we were there to be sure we had everything we needed. Our rental experience was smooth and easy with no hiccups. The house was ready and cleaned upon our arrival. 3 stars .....The house itself is OK. Its spacious and with the 3 private bathrooms it could accommodate more than one family. The kitchen items are sub-par. Bring a few of your own items.(dishes were great, most everything else looks very old and yard sale like) Kitchen table 5 star! Big and solid.The windows and blinds don't work. The drapes are old and dirty. Covers on old, old couches didn't stay on well...we utilized sheets to cover them. Carpet stained and dirty in bedrooms. Tile in the rest of the house, much needed with all the sand you track in. Sheets ok, comforters need to be replaced. Cloth headboard in one room, yuck. stripped beds of sheets when we left and the mattress pads are stained...ewwwww. Outdoor furniture was just OK, some OK and some yucky.. The house needs some overall TLC!!!!!

Wonderful home all the amenities!! Right on the water
This house is beautiful!! We loved every part of it!! Now having said that, mother nature had a different story the first two nights we were there & since the house is almost completely in the water at high tide some huge logs were banging into the pylons of the house, so no one slept very well. The driveway flooded and we had to dig out of the sand and help someone else to get out of the sand at the house next to us the first morning that we were there. Which was a little crazy (after not sleeping)!!! The second night it did the same thing so I called Nancy and she was AMAZING!! She said that was not normal and the next day I had to call her again as the dishwasher quit working!!! Ahhh so I had to wash dishes on vacation, which was crappy but ok. Then get ready for this..... the air stopped working halfway thru the last full day of vacation(we only stayed 5 nights😳) so I called Nancy yet again!! She had someone there and he fixed it as it was 84 degrees in the house in the heat of the day😳😳 Anyhoo... the house had everything u could hope for nice patio, great unobstructed views of the ocean, clean bathrooms. BUT NO BEACH IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE!!! it is on both sides and very nice but there is no beach in front to play on which is why we booked it! We had some issues but we enjoyed our stay! Made memories and got to spend time with friend who seem like family!!

Great House that needs a little attention
We loved our stay at Dauphin Island and the house was great. The open floor plan was great with the people that stayed with us so that while preparing meals, you could still visit with the rest of the group. I was sad to see the beach erosion since our last trip to the Island. A few years ago, this house had a beach in the front. It no longer does. The Gulf comes right under the house. A few things that need attention: the pots & pans. Seriously, we could not even cook pancakes because there was no decent skillet in the home with which to do so. Knives: all are dull and need replacing. There was dust behind every TV & knickknack. I know the cleaning crew wants to get in and out of there asap but time needs to be taken to dust everything. The TVs in the bedroom are embarrassing. They are all tiny and only 1 is a flat screen. I realize that we are at the beach and some may think that one does not go to the beach to sit around and watch TV but, at the end of the day when you are wore out from being in the sun all day and it's night so there's little to do, watching TV is a good pastime. Don't get me wrong: overall this is a great house. All I am saying is that the owners need to improve a few things so make it the best beach house ever.
