Beautiful Brand New 2500 sq ft Beach House Steps from Gulf/Spectacular Views

Newly built in Spring of 2018 with all new and top notch appliances included. Large open floor plan in living room and kitchen. Large wrap around deck with 2 picnic bar style tables along with 4 wicker Ashley outdoor sofas that seats 8. Six cushioned single chairs available for seating on the large wrap around deck as well. The house has open French doors in both master bedrooms and living room areas for easy in and out access. Kitchen includes a back exit/entrance with deck and a large staircase for convenience and ease of stocking groceries. House includes a laundry room with large washers and dryers. Two master bedrooms suites with California king beds extremely comfortable memory foam beds, 2 large bedrooms with Queen beds with very comfortable beds, Large bunk bed room that sleeps six, A small bunk room with hardwood queen over queen very expensive comfortable memory foam beds (sleeps 8 adults) 3 bathrooms; one includes tub shower, the other two are custom showers with granite tops. Brand new fully stainless steel 3 burner Weber grill. Propane not included. House sleeps 22 people in bedrooms.

Overall Good Trip
Wasn’t exactly how the pictures had it, but that wasn’t a problem for us. Everything in the camp worked as it should with some minor inconveniences here and there but still led to an overall great stay.

The place was very nice. There were a few issues that I spoke to the owner about. The mattresses in the two bunk bed rooms were heavy stained. The owner said that the front bunk room was stained due to a leaky AC problem which was fix. Still looks bad if that is the cause. The back bunk room was terribly stained. Make sure you bring extra toilet paper because you will only get one roll per bathroom. Also, there was no soap for the kitchen as well as no trash bags. A note on the refrigerator said to strip your beds and start a load of towels. There was no laundry detergent to start the towels. The owner said that this was not from him, it was the cleaning lady. The owner advised that there were stores nearby to get everything we needed. I related to him that at most rentals there are these supplies on hand. He again blamed it on the cleaning lady. Gavin was very polite and cordial, but blamed everything on the cleaning lady.. Overall, this was still a very nice place to stay.

Buy Travel Insurance
We rented out this place for 9 adults, 1 toddler, and 2 small dogs. The night before we were to head down to the island the weather reports were that a hurricane was going to be in the area during our stay. Obviously not safe conditions to take a small child to the area. We called some of the businesses on the island to check and they recommended we not come due to the weather conditions. Contacted host to postpone our stay or possibly get a refund of some of our money since we couldnt come. They refused to do either one, and would not work with us at all. There were riptide currents, high winds, and the day before we were supposed to have left the island flooded. But he is a meterologist and he “saw no reason we should not come and stay.” Very disappointed.

Price good and great location
House is in a great locations close to the beach. Large open kitchen/living room. Plenty of beds to sleep several families. Owner is quick to respond. Pics online must be old. Bar stools are different than pictures and most of the bedding is different and seems dated. Most of the towels are old and ragged. But it was a good price and met our needs for the long weekend. We did have to go to store for paper towels, shampoo, and soap as none was provided. Only 1 toilet paper roll per bathroom but owner notified us of this beforehand so we brought extra.

Vacation Blues
Starting from the arrival we had issues with our rental. I’ll start with the positive feedback. Great location and ample parking.Cleanliness was an issue from the beginning. Floors were not cleaned.The owner did insta-cart a mop and bucket since there was not one at the house and we cleaned the floors ourselves.There was so much garbage left under the couch and under the beds we could fill a small garage bag.The air conditioner filters had dust hanging from them and we replaced them ourselves for the owner.There is an old fridge on the deck.The sliding barn door to one bedroom is not attached,so if you attempt to close it, it falls off.We found underwear and a feminine hygiene product under a bed as well.Stove top is cracked and burner not working.Microwave handle was missing and completely stopped working two days in. Owner insta-carted new microwave and we installed it for him.The couch is broken and many of the counter bar stools are broken.Unfortunately we did not notice the mattress until we stripped the beds before leaving.Every mattress is stained and in need of replacement.Siding is falling off and electrical fixtures outside are dangling.There were safety issues we discussed with the homeowner as well.The bunk beds were held together with duct tape. Hand rails around the deck are unstable.Amenities were misrepresented from posting, no hot tub,gas grill or dining area.After lengthy discussions with Vrbo and owner, we received compensation for our inconvenience.

False advertisement
The master bed frame was broke in the middle. My husband is 200lbs so that did not go over well. There was a hole in the floor of one of the bathrooms with black mold. Water damage to all the walls from crown molding down. Especially in the master bedroom. The cold water valve at bathroom sink did not work. Only had burning hot water at sink. The cabinet under the kitchen sink was completely broke off the hinge. All the sheets smelled like a dog had slept in them, although no sign of dog hair. Good location on the house, but no good views other than one tiny corner, unless you enjoy staring at your neighbors front door. There is plenty of room and space for the entire family which was a plus but not exactly what we were expecting from the description. The manager was nice enough to call and let us know about the hole in the bathroom and suggested we did not use that bathroom. We appreciated that.

Dauphin Island vacation
Overall it’s a large property that was comfortable for our family. Loved the wrap around deck. The location was fantastic as it was just a few steps from the beach and located more to the center of the island.. The house had some minor issues that needed attention. Some flooring is loose, doors that stick, the dryer door wouldn’t stay closed while in use and there were ants in one of the bathrooms. A few changes have been made to the house since photos were taken as what appears to be a dinning room is now the bunk room. Overall we enjoyed our time in the property and on the island!

We had a great time at this property! Loved the beach , not so overrun with other vacationers. The only thing is , we wished it had a common bathroom, you have to go thru a bedroom to use one, but it would not keep us from comming back to this house.

Disappointing
It’s advertised to sleep 22; one room has two sets of bunk beds and enough space to walk between the wall & bed. No table to seat everyone for meals, do puzzles, play board games, etc. Kitchen is poorly appointed; non-stick pans scratched on bottom and not 22 place settings. The sectional was awful.

Family vacation
House is in a great location and 4 rating because we had such a good time despite the expectations created on the website. Housekeepers did not clean well (i.e. dirty diaper under bunks), but surfaces were clean. Kitchen and baths def not sufficiently furnished for 22 people. Owner replaced some living room furniture in the middle of our visit, so the seating was much better the last 2 nights. Property definitely not "brand new" and not suitable for 22 people as advertised. While it's true there are enough beds, 2 queen bunks are in an alcove without room to walk around (literally) or store anything. Zero way 8 people could/would sleep there. The owner's response was "technically accurate" but there should only be one queen bunk in there!! The kitchen table and chairs are NOT in the alcove as pictured on the website. So there is indoor meal seating for only 12 folks. The house would be GREAT for a group of 8-10 adults and a few kids; suggest re-rating what it's capacity is to avoid the issues we experienced. Also suggest correcting the photos and the house description to reflect what currently exists. To confirm, I had checked with owner in advance to be sure it would work and provided accurate information about the size and age make-up of our group..
