We WHELK-come you and your family to come stay at our unique island vacation home. The idyllic island of Chincoteague offers an array of vacation experiences, and we are located in the heart of it all! Use our kayaks and boogie boards by day, and take advantage of our convenient proximity to downtown by night. Our family fell in love with this slice of paradise many years ago, and we want to give you and your family the opportunity to experience all its beauty with the best stay possible.


~ABOUT THE HOUSE~
This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1221 sq. ft. beach house located in town. We have a full kitchen, living room, dining area, office space, and screened-in porch. This house is perfect for a large family or two small families. We comfortably sleep 8 but can sleep a maximum of 10 with use of our sofa bed. Our second floor includes an additional small living space with a Smart TV and an attached bathroom. Our kayaks, beach supplies, and grill are available for use with NO additional fees. Please note, LINENS AND TOWELS ARE NOT INCLUDED but can be rented for a fee.

~IMPORTANT INFORMATION~
LINENS AND TOWELS ARE NOT INCLUDED. However, we can provide these items for you at a cost of $17 per bed. This is to keep our cleaning and booking fees down as laundering services are costly on the island. | We use a professional cleaning company for your safety. There will be a cleaning fee added to your bill. | Access into home is by stairs only (3-4 steps). | The steps to the second level are narrow. | 4 kayaks are provided. We supply 4 keyhole life jackets (standard orange) but feel free to bring your own properly fitting life jackets. Guests will need a way to transport kayaks. | Our personal beach gear and bikes are available for your use but these items are not professionally maintained. For this reason we can not guarantee all items will be in usable condition.


~ABOUT THE LOCATION~
One of the highlights of our beach house is that it is within walking distance to the Historic Downtown of Chincoteague! Here you will find restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, coffee shops, the waterfront park, a fishing pier and all that Main St has to offer! We are located off of the intersection of Clark St and Main St. Three blocks north you will find Chincoteague's other main road, Maddox Blvd, which will take you right out to the beach!

Getting around is extremely convenient from our location. Our close proximity to downtown eliminates any parking hassles! In addition to being within walking distance to Chincoteague's in-town activities, any part of the island is just a bike ride away! We have parking for one dedicated to our building and free street parking facing east on Clark St.


~HOUSE POLICIES~
No smoking/vaping in house or on porch / No pets / No parties/events / Quiet hours are 10pm-7am / No loud music / No undeclared guests / Report damage / No stealing / No illegal substances on premises / Follow all rules regarding amenities (ex: relock bikes, no manipulation of TV cables, follow kayak safety and permit regulations etc.) / Follow all checkout instructions (*you may be billed if additional cleaning is required) / Failure to follow these rules may result in loss of security deposit, added fees and/or eviction

Cozy Cottage

We loved the location of this home. Itā€™s within walking distance of many places and an easy drive to the beach. There was plenty of room for our family of five. The neighborhood is very quaint and quiet. Communication with the owner could not have been smoother. She was extremely responsive and couldnā€™t have been more accommodating. We enjoyed a lovely week there and would stay again.

Perfect Girls Weekend Spot

Sir Whelk-a-Lot was the cutest little cottage on Chincoteague Island. It was centrally located on the island and easily located. The house was clean and welcoming and easily accommodated the 4 of us during the weekend.The hosts were fabulous to work with and they provided everything we needed!If you're looking for a weekend getaway, this is a great place. I think we'll return in the future!

Perfect Stay at Chincoteague!

We had a great time at Sir Whelk-A-Lot! It was the perfect little cottage for our family of 6 and we will definitely come back!Our older boys really enjoyed having their own space upstairs, although you have to be really careful on the short, steep, carpeted stairs to the room. We had several slips when coming down. The location is great! Lots of stuff in town was within walking distance and the fact that bikes were included made everything but the beach easily accessible. For those not familiar with Chincoteague, the beach is out on Assateague Island and would be quite a hike from anywhere on Chincoteague on foot or even by beach cruiser bike. Best to drive in and bring your bikes with you to cruise around within the park on their beautiful bike trails. To save funds and maximize the fun, we decided to make most of our meals at the house. The kitchen was great and had most everything we needed for cooking and serving. The only thing it didnā€™t have was any cabinet space to put away our groceries that were not refrigerated, so we kept everything out on the big island countertop, which worked just fine. One thing we were really excited about was the kayaks that were included as an option with our stay. Our boys love kayaking with their dad and we totally would have taken advantage of those except we had some pretty chilly and windy days. Which just means we must come back soon to Sir-Whelk-A-Lot during our summer break to enjoy those on a sunny day!

Great Early Spring Stay!

We booked this last min and Iā€™m so glad we found it. Very conveniently located to downtown, it made it easy to explore the island. The property was super clean and the hosts were very organized. We only had three people but this could easily fit a larger family. Would absolutely recommend.to others.

Comfortable and quiet respite

We stayed for 3 nights in this comfortable home. Plenty of space for all 5 of us (4 adults and 1 teen) to cook easy breakfasts, lunches, and bake cookies, play board games, as well as a great home base for walking to restaurants, shopping, and heading out for nature walks, boat tours. We very much enjoyed our stay. Easy communication with owners, too.

Sweet place, well kept and convenient.

Stayed in the off season when it's nice and quiet. The home was well kept, clean, and nicely situated. Owners were solid, and very responsive to the one issue we had (a sticking side entrance storm door - taken care of quickly). Comfortable bed, cozy couches, and a clean kitchen. Can't ask for better on a weekend retreat.

Sir Whelk a Lot worked out great for the 4 of us. The upstairs has 3 beds and its own bathroom, so it was like having a separate suite. The steps are narrow, so you have to be careful. Great location

Great family retreat for family

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and in super condition, the bedrooms are great so everyone can enjoy some quiet time and privacy. Loads of beach gear provided, games as well. Location convenient to get to beach, shopping, mainland bridge, boat trips and eating out. Very much enjoyed the evening sun sitting on the swing on the front porch.

An excellent stay on best island on earth.

This house served our group really well. Itā€™s clean, spacious, and in a fantastic location to walk to shops along the main street. Itā€™s in a quiet location, but in a perfect spot for activities. You can explore the beach and forest all day and this is the perfect place to relax and revive. There is an outdoor shower to wash the beach off after a day in the sun. You canā€™t go wrong staying here. Itā€™s hard to have a bad time on Chincoteague island. This house will accelerate your wonderful stay.

Great place for family of 6!

We had a great stay with our family of six- kids aged 9-14. Having the bikes was a hit for the teens to be able to roam to get ice cream or to fish at the park. It was clean and cozy. The host did a great job communicating before and during our stay. If we get to Chincoteague again, will definitely check here for available!
