Private log cabin, 72-acres and 3/4 miles of Dearborn River frontage. Explore river habitat, hike, watch wildlife, float, fish, Incredible swimming hole... Powered by solar/wind/propane, the 1200-sqft, off-grid cabin has all the amenities you need: full kitchen, stove, refrigerator, 1 1/2 baths w/ shower. From the deck, enjoy the expansive view of meadow, the river & rock formations. BBQ meals, kick-back, watch the raptors soar, breathe the mountain air. The loft BR has: 1 queen, 2 twins, 1/2 bath & small balcony. Queen sofa beds & portable twin in LR. Sleeps 6.
Located near Craig, MT & the Missouri River Canyon, famous for its volcanic rock formations & blue-ribbon fishing, you can book a guided float on the Missouri River or Gates of the Mountains. About halfway between Yellowstone & Glacier National Parks. ~50 miles from both Great Falls & Helena.

For the beautiful drive to property, you will need an AWD/4-wheel vehicle.

Great location and cabin for detoxing from the daily grind. Stayed with two adults and two children (7&4) and had plenty of space. Kids loved playing in the river and climbing rocks. Plenty of hot water for showers and never had a power concern, although the cabin has the backup generators ready for poor solar days. Spent lots of time watching wildlife from the front porch. The road in goes over several mountains and is no joke, a proper 4wd vehicle with good ground clearance is necessary.Property manager was great and met us at the interstate to show us the way in.

Montana hideaway

What a great place! We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the meadow and river. We climbed the rocks and the view was even better. Unfortunately the fish in the river were not biting, but the Missouri River is nearby. It was a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Such a beautiful log home!

Everything you think it is...and more...

Everything that is said about this property is true. It is gorgeous, well-maintained, the manager is responsive, as are the owners. The road in and out of the property is tough - no lie. Even being told it was a difficult drive in and that a AWD or 4WD vehicle is required to get there, I was still not fully prepared for the final hill up and down into the property. It is steep and not for the faint of heart if you're not used to driving on mountain roads. You are completely disconnected once you're on the property; no cell phone coverage and no WiFi, so be prepared to completely unplug. However, if you have an iPhone, you can send text messages via Satellite (an option I didn't know my phone had until I was there).The lighting in the cabin is sparse and at night gets pretty dark. There is one light in the kitchen and an overhead light hanging from the ceiling for the living room area.The property and cabin are gorgeous. The Dearborn River is a short downhill walk away and we caught some baby rainbow trout swimming through - the largest maybe 10 inches.It's a very peaceful, serene, unplugged, out-of-the-way retreat.

Nature was our only company

We are 74, married 52 years. Our anniversary trip. Most of our time was spent on deck with view of the river, just watching the skies, the variety of landscapes and conversing with each other. No company, not even a sighting of another person. Nobody ā€œfloated byā€ either. Family of Deer, one coyote, eagles, ducks. We took two hikes; one day to the west from shore up and back north to the top. It was a rugged steep hike up the hills on the property to great heights and views. Another day to the east, on the property along And also away from the river, more gentle slopes, lovely views. Later, in the river, we dog paddled around and around the swimming hole, laughing with exhilaration at our ability to tolerate the cool waters - Refreshing! Beach booties and crocks were both helpful for in water and dry pair at shore at exit point. Towels were left waiting on shore. Our last night was filled with stars, a few shooting stars, and satellites. 2 hours lying on our backs on the picnic table in sweatshirts and pants. The Wind came and went, low-roaring through the trees, strong gusts, soft breezes and eerie stillness in between. Although the very distant sound of traffic from the highway reached our ears in the day, there were times, in the night, when the silence was overwhelming. Loved Being Here!

First trip to Montana!

The property was just gorgeous and the cabin was perfect! The images and descriptions gave us a solid idea of what to expect from this semi-rustic experience. Beautiful views and loads of wildlife. Pay heed to the need for 4WD for ingress and egress. The road is rough but plenty safe.

Paradise on earth

Exactly as described, off grid, secluded, just beautiful surroundings. Gave us chance to relax and enjoy the location weather and the swimming hole at the river. Tried a bit of fishing. A thoroughly enjoyable few days.

Remote get away

Remote is an understatement. This cabin sits on a very scenic part of the Deerborn River. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and very much appreciated the heads up we received about getting to the location. And no cell service or internet made the sty even better. Canā€™t wait to return.

Heaven on Earth

After our first visit to Two Feathers two years ago and life throwing us lots of curveballs this past year, my husband and I knew we could get the R&R we needed here. We were able to disconnect from the world and reconnect with ourselves, each other and nature, and this is the perfect place to do that! Weā€™ve traveled a good bit in our lives, and this is by far our very favorite destination. Weā€™ll be daydreaming of Two Feathers until we return. Thankful we get to enjoy this piece of heaven on Earth!

Best Vaction Ever

This property is all it says it is and more. The property manager was great. I loved her. I absolutely loved everything about this property. We booked this trip for our 12-year-old who is an avid fisherman and wanted to fly fish in Montana. He was in heaven. I can't express how happy we all were but for me the photography opportunities were everywhere. Saturday, we spent the entire day at the river. My son caught 3 trout and hundreds of crawdads. We even got to meet the neighbors, the owner's brother and friend Bob, came canoeing down the river. It was great. I am already planning my next trip. I really want to bring my parents and my adult kids. A big thank you for Ruth and her husband for sharing their property with us. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Awesome trip - off the grid cabin in a beautiful valley on the Dearborn River. Even though we werenā€™t at high season, we caught fish every day. If you enjoy fishing and the great outdoors and want some time to enjoy life in the moment, this cabin will be great for you.

Off the Grid Paradise!

There are not enough stars to show how great this place is!! Our Host Ruth was great to work with and did all she could to make this a great vacation. The mountain views, the wildlife, the river in front of the property and last but not least....the front porch, which we sat on and just looked at the mountains and river every morning and night. This made this one of the best vacations ever. We had a family of deer, a family of wild turkeys, rabbits, birds and more come right in the front of the property to enjoy each day. This place is not near a big city and a small town is about 30 minutes away, so if you want to unplug, you will enjoy the peace & quiet. Enjoy!

To say that we enjoyed our stay is quite an understatement. Even writing this review, I'm having difficulty finding the right words to describe how amazing this place is and how much we enjoyed our stay. We are outdoorsy and love to tent camp, but we brought my dad on this trip and thought a little modern comfort would go a long way. It was the perfect combination of "off-grid" and comforts of home. The only thing that would have made our trip better is getting to stay longer! The cabin had plenty of seating and sleeping spaces; we never felt crowded. There were plenty of towels, dishes, and cookware. The cabin was clean and linens were fresh. The kids slept on the porch every night underneath the stars. We were all able to enjoy the peace around us and reconnect without modern technologies interfering. Every day we walked down to the river to fish, swim, and jump off rocks ( even we parents). The owners and property manager were incredibly accomodating and communicative. This stay/experience is probably THE best we've ever had through VRBO. We will definitely be back as many times as we can.

This is the 5th time I've stayed at Two Feathers, and I'll be back 50 more. It's quiet and beautiful. Plenty to explore. Morning and evening wildlife. If you aren't staying here when you are in Montana, you are doing it wrong.

Wonderful location

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this property. Words can not accurately describe the peacefulness of this property. With the mountain setting back into the Montana wilderness it is perfect for those wanting to get away from all the business of internet and cell phones. We hiked the property, fished in in the river. It was low but we were still able to find a few spots that had trout. This is one VBRO we would book another stay. We like to chose different locations to return to but this one is so wonderful we would book a return trip.

Stay in Two Feathers Lodge, August 8 to 14, 2022

I stayed in this cabin on the Dearborn with my two sisters for 6 days. To say it was a dream holiday would be an understatement. The cabin is magnificently positioned amongst volcanic outcrops and ponderosa pines, with a beautiful view of the river and neighboring slopes. A long track takes you down to the emerald Dearborn River and one of the best swimming holes I have had the pleasure of dipping into, as big as an Olympic-sized swimming pool. The cabin is well equipped with most mod cons, and a deck wraps around the side and front to allow you to enjoy the view while sipping coffee in the morning or a beer in the evening. I slept on this deck each night, admiring the star-studded sky and being greeted each morning by a family of curious deer. We also saw a family of turkeys crossing the field each morning, as well as hummingbirds, eagles, ospreys, and scampering chipmunks. an idyllic setting. The road to the cabin is rugged, with potholes and ruts, and the last 100 yards are a steep incline followed by an equally steep decline; so an all-wheel vehicle is needed. But once you familiarize yourself with the road in, you find that the cabin is only 30 minutes from the Interstate, so it is well positioned for sight-seeing. We spent time in Great Falls and Fort Benton; we hiked the upper Dearborn (Devil's Glen), and attended a rodeo in Cascade (the mutton bustin' was hilarious!). I would highly recommend this cabin for any family or group that love the outdoors and are looking for a quiet respite. Chris Stevens, Dublin, Ireland
