The purple door at the bay.

When you see the purple door you will know you have made it to your vacation spot. You will find stunning views any time of the day. Then at dawn or dusk you will think you are in a painting. This property has a full kitchen, living room with 2 couches, two nice size bedrooms with queen size beds, there is a full bathroom with a garden tub with a shower. Then you will find a spiral stair case that leads to the 3rd floor with a couch, another full bathroom with a shower, another queen size bed and the best view you would ever hope to find. On the outside you will find a balcony and a private peer.

Please message me all the names & numbers of the people staying at, The Purple Door on the Bay. Finally, I also need to know what make, model, tag number & color of your vehicle that you plan to use while staying at The Purple Door on the Bay. I must report this information to the office of Captain's Cove. If you are interested in using the amenities within The Captain's Cove Golf & Yacht Club they charges $15.00 a day, per person or $75.00 a week per person. I need to inform the Captain's Cove within 05 days to your stay if you plain to use the amenities.

Iā€™ll begin by saying that this property is a great location, being right on the bay with a dock for fishing/crabbing!!! The host, Kelly, was very responsive to all of my questions prior to arriving, and also addressed the issues we had after arriving at the house. Upon arrival, there is no driveway, so we had to park in the grass, which we just assumed was ok. The neighbor confirmed that thatā€™s where the ā€œdrivewayā€ is. We had a difficult time getting the key out of the lockbox. We found that one of the sliding doors upstairs was unlocked, which we realized doesnā€™t lock at all, so if you feel the need to lock doors, think twice about this house. Also, the AC was not working properly, so it was warm inside when we got there. I immediately contacted Kelly and she sent someone out with a portable AC unit(see pics). The tape would not hold the vent on the plywood so we ended up turning that unit off because we felt it was unsafe with the venting blowing inside the house.Kelly assured me that there was no danger, however I didnā€™t want to risk it. There was also a portable AC unit running in the room upstairs. It was like listening to the low rumble of jet engines.When we left on Thursday, July 11, the instructions for leaving say to take the trash to the waste site(address provided). When we got to the waste disposal site, the sign said CLOSED ON THURSDAY, so we had to haul our trash home with us.With all of the issues, we were refunded a portion of our stay. House needs TLC!!!

Great for a getaway!

Great place on the water. We caught enough crabs off the dock to have dinner. Relaxing place to take the family and enjoy the seaside. I wish we had more time to enjoy.

All of my critiques are first world problems and not worth mentioning. Great place. Great view. Great location. Friendly neighbors. Nicely located about halfway between VA and MD assateague island. If you have a mobile infant/toddler, a pack and play blocks the spiral staircase perfectly. Will be staying again.

Cute, But Not Cozy

The property, as portrayed was adorable and it was in a desirable location. What wasn't mentioned was that the central air wasn't working properly. The unit for upstairs was no longer in commission and the unit for the rest of the house couldn't handle the heat. Temps hit 80 inside the house almost every day we were there, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The portable AC units provided were not adequate even with fans that we purchased to help circulate the air for times when we were in the house.Railings on the deck outside were loose and the corner posts were zip-tied together. Railings in the loft area were also loose. The amenities we had to register ourselves for were not included. In fact, there was a charge of 15 per person per day to use them, which is pretty steep. Not sure if the neighborhood collects dues from homeowners and then charges their renters, but that was tacky.In addition, on our first full day there, we talked to a woman at information. She was not helpful and she talked to us like we didnā€™t belong there. If residents don't want renters, then they need to change their bylaws.The response from the property manager regarding the heat was fast, but the result just wasn't good and that is on the homeowner. Until the few things I mentioned are fixed, I would not recommend this rental. We've used VRBO many times. This is the first time I feel we were let down.

Peaceful

This is a very peaceful place to stay. It's quiet, but still close enough to things to do all within an hours drive. Ocean City is about a 40-45 minute drive, Assateague, MD to see the ponies on the beach is about 35-40 minutes. Assateague, VA and Chincoteague are 30-35, Wollops NASA station is 15-20 minutes. It overlooks Chincoteague Bay and the island of Chincoteague. My husband and i would definitely stay there again. Alms is you like seafood, that is one of the best areas for it. Definitely get some blue crab while you're there, so yummy!

Property was slightly run down and had no driveway (just grass). It was in a great neighborhood with a beautiful view. We had to take the trash 15 minutes south when leaving (in the opposite direction of home for us). It was good enough for us to relax and cook but a slight bit expensive for its outdated condition though.

Beautiful views

We enjoyed our stay at the Purple Door. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed sitting on the deck. My husband taught my daughter to fish and she loved the dock area. We did use the amenities at Captainā€™s Cove and drove out to Assateague Island to see the horses. The location is tucked away from major attractions but we got used to the drive after the first day. The neighbors were friendly. Enjoyed our stay !

Perfect place to relax

My family and i spent a relaxing week enjoying everything about the house , plenty of fishing and crabbing from the dock , the almost constant breeze made the deck a perfect place. The house seems a little off the beaten path for the first day or so but once you make a couple trips to town its nothing. I wish i had paid a few days for the amenities but thats hindsight. If you're looking for a quiet getaway this is the perfect place

All about the view and wonderful neighbors

Had an Awsome 8 days , views were amazing from just about everywhere in the house. Fishing was good from dock, crabbing was slow, a little late in the season. Beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The restaurant just down the street had very good food, especially the fish tacos. No issues at all during our stay. Beautiful club house, indoor pool and golf course.

Best of Times

My husband and I had the best of times. We came with my daughter and her family. Staying where we were there was a friendly atmosphere. The home was clean, and my pets were allowed. We had some trouble with the tv service but Kelly along with the owner called me on the phone. Kelly then came by and fixed it for us. Right away at that. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Purple Door Stay

Property has a great view of the water across to Chicateague. I could have sat on the deck looking at that view all day but the heat wouldnā€™t let me. Way too hot outside. Kelly was tremendous answering any concern. Only negative is if you want to go to Chicateague it is a 30 minute drive.

Upstairs bed was uncomfortable and either the mattress or pillows had an awful smell..linens were rewashed..wasn't that. Lost power during one night..smoke/fire alarms went off because of the power outage..thank God my son in law knew how to turn off till power was restored because it was deafening. Needed more dining area..only 2 chairs for 5 people wasn't ideal. The air-conditioning ductwork needed repair late one evening..that was fixed in a very timely manner.

Memorial Day Getaway

Great spot, great local amenities and cozy house and neighborhood. Private dock made it fun for fishing and taking in the views. Right price and good service. Highly recommended if exploring the area.

Stayed at the Purple Door house and took easy day trips to Ocean City, Bethany and Rehoboth beaches, Chincoteague and Wallops Islands and Deal Island, Princess Anne and Pocomoke. Great, safe location!
