Historical 'Kage House' Short Term Rental located in "Old Town Cape"



The building is reminiscent of eighteenth-century New Orleans architecture and was built sometime before 1883. The apartment is on the second story and is always being updated with new and exciting improvements. The 'Kage House' is located at 120 Broadway in the heart of the Old Town Historical District on the corner of Broadway and Main Street and less than a 10 minutes' walk to the 'Century Casino'. On Main Street you will find many fine shops and restaurants, or just enjoy the scenic area as you walkabout. This is by far one of the best places in Cape to stay!!

The bedroom is furnished with a new Stearns and Foster king size firm pillowtop mattress/bed and flat screen tv with viewing of the Mississippi River from the east window. The living room is furnished with a 'Lazy Boy' queen size sleeper sofa and a 65" flat screen tv. The apartment is fully equipped. Internet/wifi usage is included in the price of your stay.

We are continually investing in the historical building. In October the kitchen counter tops were replaced with granite, the bedroom mattress was replaced with a very comfy firm pillowtop Stearns and Foster mattress, and the kitchen window was replaced with a Pella casement window which allows guests to open for fresh air if they wish. Extensive brick tuck pointing was completed in November on the exterior. Future interior renovations are planned.

Directly across the street is a restaurant by the name of Minglewood. You can enjoy dining as well as a large selection of craft beers.

Enjoy relaxing outside on the deck with a river view of the Mississippi and the historical Old Town Cape dynamic downtown area.

You will most certainly enjoy your stay here in comfort and with a bit of history to boot.

Love this place
This is our third stay here. We love the Kage House and its location. We live only 75 miles from here but it makes a nice weekend get away. The weekend we stayed they were having a car show and our granddaughter had a volleyball tournament in Cape so it worked out great. We will be back!

Perfect stay
What an incredible stay! Waking up to the sunrise over the river was such a peaceful way to start each day. We loved watching the boats drift by and spotting birds while enjoying our morning coffee. The house itself is absolutely beautiful – full of charm and so welcoming. The bed was very comfortable. The thoughtful touches like the snacks and drinks made us feel right at home. The location was perfect – we walked to two local breweries, took a scenic walk along the river, and explored the charming shops on Main Street. We even tried our luck at the casino! Brunch at the restaurant across the street was the perfect way to end our trip. Thank you for such a memorable and relaxing experience. We can't wait to come back!

Great location in downtown Cape! When we travel we are usually disappointed with the bed and furnishings but this property had a very comfortable couch and bed. Beautifully decorated with deck with the view of the river!

Weekend Getaway
Property was better than advertised. Really great host, and provided more than expected. The place was very inviting, clean, and spacious. It is in a very convienent and fun part of historical downtown Cape G, all within walking distance. It was relaxing to walk a block away and sit, watching the Mississippi river flow by. I highly recommend staying at this property, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent location!
The Kage House is a beautifully appointed property right at the top of the old downtown. The property has more than you need because of the thoughtful owners. Everything downtown is easily walkable. Sitting on the deck watching the river traffic is a highlight!

Kage House
Excellent stay at the Kage house. I was traveling alone travel RN and new to the area. I felt safe and had everything I needed. Keith was very helpful and made sure my stay was stress free! There was a snow storm the day I was checking out to drive back home. Keith arranged for me to have a late check out so I could get a nap (night shift nurse) and the roads were in good condition. 10/10 would recommend.

The Kage House is a very comfortable and well maintained property located steps away from great restaurants, upscale bars and shopping in the historical downtown area of Cape Girardeau. My daughter and I stayed there and were very comfortable and pleased with the location, property and area. Keith was great to work with in setting up our stay there, as well. Lovely place on the Mississippi
We had a perfect stay here. The owners have made this property comfortable, pleasing and fun. The bed is comfy and the bedding is fluffy and white like a hotel. Fluff white towels in the bathroom and toiletries for guest use. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. They have spices, a junk drawer for incidentals and lots of coffee. The deck is awesome and the sun coming up over the Mississippi is special! This is a 10. I would stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful views of the river & so close to things to do. Loved going to the farmers market & so many other things to see & do there. We really enjoyed the views, privacy,convenience,comfort, and location. Kitchen was well equipped. The Kage House is a very nice and unique property. We would definitely stay there again! One small bathroom was the only disappointment, the shower was very nice!

Quick Weekend Visit
We visited Cape Girardeau for a volleyball tournament at the Sports plex. This is a great location, convenient to everything and better than staying in a hotel. We will definitely be back!

Great stay in every way
I have stayed at this property before, and it's always great. The location is great (near downtown and the Mississippi River), and the house is always clean and tidy. The snacks for guests (soft drinks, water, candy) are a great touch as well and much appreciated. The check-in process was smooth and it was just as easy checking out. Definitely recommend booking this house to anyone visiting Cape and looking for somewhere that isn't right off I-55.
