The Farm Cottage is two miles away from boat docks along the Snake River where you can kayak, swim, walk, or just enjoy the sounds of nature/water with a beautiful sunset. This retreat is also midway from Boise and Pocatello, four miles to the new Burley Temple, and close to the historic Wilson Theater and Orpheum Theater. For adventure, the City Of Rocks, the Snake River, and Lake Clevand are close.
Summer brings in good old-fashioned County fairs and rodeos in Burley, Rupert, and Oakley. July has the famous Burley Spudman triathlon. Fall also has straw mazes and pumpkin patches along with harvesting of potatoes, corn, hay, and sugar beets.
This charming cottage is 15 to 30 miles from Pomerelle Mountain Resort, winter snowmobiling, Albion Haunted Mansions, museums, parks, hiking, swimming pools, fishing, biking, Lakes Walcott, Chamber of Commerce walking path, and the Famous City of Rocks National Reserve.
This can be a destination to get away and enjoy the river, mountains, farms, and small-town culture, or stay inside to relax. It can also be a comfortable home away from home to cook, sleep, and play while participating in family or community events. We are family-friendly with roll-away beds, Pack 'N Play, highchair, games, and toys. As for entertainment, this charming retreat enjoys three Roku smart TVs and WiFi.
This home is an original historic homestead from back in 1907. It has been modernized with a few remodels and additions. The Farm Cottage has seen many people and many changes as farmers and homesteaders have brought magic to the valley. The name "Magic Valley" is a reference to the construction of Milner and Minidoka Dams and a series of irrigation canal systems on the Snake River during the first decade of the 20th century. In a short time these projects "magically" transformed what had been considered a nearly uninhabitable area into some of the most productive farmland in the northwestern U.S. Many cities and towns in the region were founded between 1900 and 1910 as a direct result of these projects.
The present owners lived in it for 16 years while six children joined their family there. They always called it their cottage. It has lots of love, tears, and memories for them. We hope you feel at home in "the Farm Cottage".
