This space has been meticulously created with relaxation in mind. Every detail carefully curated and provided so you can disconnect and reconnect with whatever is important to you. The cabin is ideal for a quick get away with a loved one, a family vacation, or a small gathering. It is the perfect place to make a base camp so you can explore all the outdoor wonders that West Virginia has to offer. We are located within 2 miles of Audra State Park and steps away from Middle Fork River.
The space
Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations. As an extra cleaning step, we use Microban on all hard surfaces and have it available to our guests on the counter when you arrive.
The cabin has everything you will need to kick back and relax. The layout of the property was designed for ultimate comfort and the rooms are modern, open, and airy. We pay homage to the local communities throughout the Appalachian Mountain region by featuring decor and products in our home.
Our favorite feature of the cabin is the rear deck that wraps around the back and side. It is private and intimate and the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or to grill out and pay corn hole in the evening. A portion of the deck is covered with a swing and 4 adult adirondack chairs for ultimate relaxation. The open part of the deck has a picnic table, swing hammock, and opens up the night sky for star gazing.
A few steps away from the deck is the firepit that is set up with adirondack chairs and string lights to create the perfect setting for a campfire.
We have a very small yard on the side of the cabin, it is not suitable for "playing" however, there is a community park that is a 2 minute walk from the cabin. The community park has new swings, a slide, and a grass space for children to play. Right across the street from the park is where you have direct access to Middle Fork River. This is where the cover photo was taken. There are stairs that will take you down to the river bank to swim, float, kayak, or fish. The river feeds directly into Audra State Park and is a perfect "pick up" spot if you choose to tube down the river.
The kitchen is well equipped and we provide you with all of the utensils, cookware (pots, pans, cast iron skillet, bakeware, bowls, cutting boards, strainer), and small appliances (Ninja coffee maker, hot tea kettle, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, hand mixer, crockpot, instapot) that you will need. The kitchen table expands to comfortably seat 7.
The cabin has three bedrooms: one on the lower level with a queen bed, the other two bedrooms are upstairs with three full beds and four twin beds that are loft style (guardrails are available if needed).
There is a TV in the main part of the living room that has a couch, love seat, and an arm chair with a footstool. We have a DVD player with a variety of DVD's available to use during your stay. We also provide an Apple TV connector and Amazon Firestick. If watching TV isn't your thing there are a ton of board games, cards, puzzles, and books at the ready!
Guest access
We are located in a private gated campground community. Each property is owner-owned and no overnight camping is permitted. It is important to note that the access road to the cabin is a private gravel road and not maintained by the state. As a community we maintain this road but in transparency there are a few rough patches and recommend you travel at the posted speed limit of 10mph. We have a U shaped driveway in front of our home (enough room to fit 3 cars) and space to fit 1-2 cars on the side of home. If you have a vehicle with a small trailer it should fit in the spot on the side of the home.
Other things to note
We have well water at the cabin with a filtration system. The water is suitable for drinking, cooking, and showering/handwashing. You are welcome to bring bottled water if you don't like the taste of well water.
We do not have central air or heat in our cabin. We do have three AC window units in the upstairs and lower level bedrooms and a portable AC unit in the window downstairs to keep the cabin comfortable. There is a ventless propane fireplace in the kitchen that keeps the cabin cozy in the colder months. In addition, there is an electric fireplace in the living room that generates heat and we have portable heaters in the bedrooms if needed.
This also goes without saying but you are in West Virginia and in the woods so don't be surprised if you see a bug or spider on the deck or occasionally in the house. We do have a pest management company come out and spray once a month to keep them at bay but being in a highly wooded area they do like to wander.
