Built in 1888 by the pioneering Neate family, it’s restored to its glory recently with artistic stylings and modern comforts. Norwood Arthouse has been one of the prominent landmarks on the Great Western Highway over a century in the Blue Mountains. Even the building has gone through a series of modifications, it has retained its early form and much of its external configurations. Norwood’s architectural design is classical with a front porch and a roof-top balcony at the center of the facade accompanied by symmetrical gabled roofs, cement chimneys and glass windows.
Entering Norwood Arthouse is like traveling back in time. You are stepping on the same timber floor where the pioneers used to walk on over a hundred years ago.
There are two magnificent lounge rooms on the two wings of the house after you come through the foyer. Both of them are grand and spacious to accommodate private gatherings. The South Wing is bedecked with contemporary wallpaper, sophisticated art and comfortable Furnitures in modern-country style.
The North Wing has a mini library and office space and with large TV for Entertianment, the space is perfect for coning together as group.
The four original fireplaces are the social centers in a typical Blue Mountain night. They have been infusing this group-oriented space with warmth and lights mingled with laughter's, fun and relaxations for many generations.
Next to the North Wing lounge room, it is a L-shape sunroom facing both north and west.
Here is our dining area with full sun and is replete with an array of houseplants, beautiful furniture and dinnerware. The substantial rustic table can seta a full house, making this another great space to spend time together. For group dinner, this area is large enough for 14 people to share a meal.
The middle section of the North Wing is a full commercial kitchen including a small espresso bar. This is a unique feature making private dining experience possible.
Passing the kitchen, there are 7 bedrooms all with En-suites. In total, maximum of 14 people can be accommodated. Here are the room and bed configurations:

Stepping outside from the North Wing, the grand veranda is set up with comfortable outdoor entertaining area. A very private and cozy spot for book and coffee or Glass of Wine.
Walking towards to the back of the house, there is a splendid garden with over 1,000 sqm in land size covered by old pine trees and surrounded by exotic mountain flora. During wintertime, the outdoor fire pits will be set up in this area. In summertime, it will be a perfect BBQ zone.
The parking space in Norwood is very generous. There are car parks on both side of the house which can easily accommodate 8 medium size cars. At entrance of the South Wing car park, there is one Tesla charging station.

Norwood is conveniently located near to Blackheath village and train station.
Within 5 minutes' walk, you will access cafes, restaurants, pubs, antique shops and grocery shops. The nearby landmarks are Megalong Valley and Govetts Leap Lookout. All within 20 minutes' drive.

Winter is the most popular season in the mountains. Many people love fireplace and firewoods. We have prepared reasonable amount of firewoods for you to enjoy during the winter months from June to August. Based on our experience, the amount of firewoods should be sufficient to get you start for your stay. If you need more firewoods, you can easily buy them from the nearby petrol station. To protect our environment, please consume firewoods responsibly.
For Summer, we have central air-conditioning system in each of our bedroom. The control panel is mounted on the wall next to the room door. It is very easy to operate and adjust temperature.
The mix of history, culture and art will make your Norwood experience unique and memorable as part of the Blue Mountains world heritage.
Due to the property's location, some guests may experience challenges with sleeping due to traffic noise. While this may not be bothersome for everyone, we understand the importance of a peaceful night's rest.
For those who are sensitive to noise, we recommend bringing earplugs to help ensure a more comfortable sleep experience.
