We stayed in apartment- and ate at pub in Portinscale only a 15 minute walk into Keswick lovely walk. Apartment clean , everything you need . The building is Victorian, plenty of room in apartment set in lovely grounds. It is dated, and the hall entrance could do with repainting and new carpets to make it more inviting for guests. "Had a great long weekend at the property. Had loads of stuff there to use the kitchen to its full potential. Was lovely and warm and everyone had plenty of space in the accommodation. We were able to celebrate Christmas with my mum who is going to Guatemala next month and won’t be there. A few tiny tweaks will make this a perfect let but already great as it is."

"We had a great stay using this as our base to explore part of the Lake District, easy access to lakes and many fells in one direction and to vast beaches a short drive away in the other direction. Loved the jacuzzi bath to relax in after a long day walking. We found the stairs to be steeper than we are acustomed to and also smaller treads, but a good hand rail for support when going to bed with tired legs. "Overall it was lovely but had minor quibbles so 4 star. not 5. Remote control for TV worked poorly. Outside table had broken leg and left unrepaired. Attention needed to back on front and back borders which had begun but not finished. Drinking mugs were unpleasantly heavy and large. Felt a bit end of season! We would however come again and recommend it to friends."

"Beautiful views… The accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The host Janet was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and completely respected our privacy. Awesome place to stay, with amazing walks just outside the door. We loved the waterfall which was a very short walk away… The track leading to the accommodation is covered in potholes which is the only downside. The views and the walks outweigh this minor inconvenience. We highly recommend…"

"We enjoyed a lovely weekend in The Barn which is situated in beautiful countryside near to some fantastic walking.The directions to the property and the information were accurate and helpful.The Barn is well equiped and comfortable with plenty of parking for groups like ours who may be bringing more than one car (we brought 4).The owner was very responsive to questions and was generous with a later check-out time. "The location is absolutely brilliant and the property very nice. Very clean and warm. Very comfortable. If I have any issues they are relatively small, but should be mentioned to improve what is already very good. On entry, there’s a slight smell of damp. Only slight but it is there. The kitchen work top is very small. And the shower though adequate, could have been better. None of these detract hugely, as the location is just perfect."
