Willow Cove Living on river time!

Sit back relax, you’re on river time! This lovely1300 sq. ft. waterfront cottage that is situated on a beautiful private lot has so much to offer. if you want to build a fire on the shoreline, cast a line in the water and watch the massive, majestic ships pass by, sit in the screened porch and lose track of time. take a hike through some of the many trails in the adjacent Michigan State Forrest, or launch your boat just around the corner at the Dunbar park.
Breathtaking views of the St. Mary’s river makes this an unforgettable year-round recreational destination. Once you settle in you will want to stay longer.

This cottage has a very private yard and beach that is great for swimming and fishing.

Honest review, several reasons we won’t be back
I want to be objective with this review - there was one reason the stay was very unpleasant for all of us that hopefully isn’t always a problem, some nice parts of the place, and some dirty/not so nice elements. The 2 stars I gave are for the nice parts of the property - 1. the view and property/yard is very nice, and 2. the area/neighborhood is very peaceful/safe. The negative that I think anyone browsing for a place to stay should know is as follows: 1. There was very little water pressure the whole 3 days we stayed and the tap water was cloudy and brown. We called both numbers provided and left messages on the night we checked in. We did not hear back from anyone the entire visit and nobody could take showers or use the restroom. We did finally get a call about the messages we left 1 day AFTER we checked out. I hope this is an isolated incident and that the water usually works better and is clear, but I can only speak for our experience. 2. The cottage, while it seems to have been renovated in the pictures, is a bit rough and ready in reality. Windows don’t work or dont have screens to open for fresh air (because no AC), or they’re very dirty/rotted and full of bugs and spiders. There were also exposed areas that could have been covered during a renovation like a hole in the upstairs bathroom, a hole in downstairs ceiling tiles, exposed ductwork that has been disconnected, paper towels stuffed into framework in downstairs bathroom etc.

Very peaceful
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Willow Cove Cabin. When I booked I had no idea of all the friended we would see pass by loved this so much! We had a quiet peaceful stay on this beautiful property! Close enough to visit other areas such as taquanimin falls, white fish point , we even tried yooperlite hunting . We will definitely me coming back here to stay!!

Beautiful Location
The cottage views of St. Mary's river do not disappoint - they are stunning! The cottage is quaint and comfortable with new appliances including a large refrigerator and washer/dryer combo. We really enjoyed the large yard, the nearby Dunbar park and many convenient attractions nearby including the Soo, the Tehquanamon Falls and others.

Very peaceful spot and fun watching the barges go by. Needs to have a little attention. We found dirt and cobwebs in the corners. Didn't dare to walk all the way out on the dock as the end was leaning and grass was growing thru it. Only able to walk through a very narrow spot in the grass that was over 3 feet tall. Refridgerator opens toward the wall instead of the counter.

So relaxing!
We had a wonderful time watching freighters and the gentle current of the river. The house has lots of things that other properties don’t like condiments, spices, ziploc bags, shampoo etc. Very nice. The beds and sheets are so comfortable I would recommend future renters bring their own water, as the water here is very hard and rusty. Fabulous visit and would love to return.

Graduation and Mother’s Day weekend
Most relaxing weekend with our daughter’s- enjoyed the quietness and views of the water. Enjoyed the ease of getting to the Soo for LSSU graduation and then just enjoying my Mother’s Day on the water with our family. All my girls loved being here and playing games and asked to come back again! Thank you for allowing us to have this weekend!

Even better than the photos!
We had a wonderful stay! This house is way better than the photos show. Lots of room, great beds, very clean and the view is absolutely amazing! We saw at least 5 barges a day go by and the wildlife in the yard was constant to keep us entertained. Cozy corners restaurant is less than 5 mins away and has a great view and great food. The host also has maps of Sault St. Marie, board games, yard games, lots of books, plenty of towels and blankets, and views from anywhere you sit in the home. The screened in porch is awesome too! You won't be disappointed in this rental!

April getaway!
Even with the cold and snow in April it was a beautiful place to stay! We have beautiful photos of the moon on the River and even a nighttime freighter with all the lights. Host was terrific to work with!

Great stay in a beautiful place
We really enjoyed our time here. The cottage was very clean and exactly as shown in the pictures. Clearly the property has been recently updated and the furnishings appeared new. We had a great time watching the southbound ships passing by as well as exploring the river with the kayaks. Also had fires in the the nice front yard fire pit. Much to see and enjoy in the area including the Soo Locks and both Neebish and Drummond islands. Doug is a very responsive host... Thanks

Fantastic Cottage
Our group of 4 stayed at the Willow Cove Cottage in February 2022 and it was fantastic. The home sits secluded down a long drive along the lakeshore and has an outstanding view of the lake and Neebish Island. Although the weather was frigid outside, it was warm and comfortable inside. All of the rooms are very good size and there's plenty of room to stretch out after a long day on the snowmobile trails (or whatever you're there to enjoy). Another item worth noting is that we had a chance to meet the neighbors and they were both wonderful and very helpful. As well, anytime that we needed something from the homeowner, he was extremely accommodating. For that, we say "Thank You" to our host for making our trip extremely comfortable. All-in-all, we're already looking forward to coming back to Willow Cove for a future stay. Perhaps when the weather is "much warmer"!!!! LOL.

We came for two things. The I-500 snowmobile race and some riding for ourselves. Enjoyed both! The cottage was perfect for us. We would love to come back in the summer months to see the freighters.

Awesome!
We had a fabulous time staying at this cottage! It is beautiful and has a beautiful view! We saw many freighters! The hammock is Awesome! We did a day trip to Tahquemenon Falls and WhiteFish Pointe! Beautiful! We kayaked up the Charlotte River as far as we could go from the cottage! So fun! We had dinner at Cozy Corner down the street one night - awesome burgers! This is located in a great spot. We went to the Soo twice and had breakfast in Pickford one other morning at Big D's - great omelets! Overall, this is a great cottage - very clean and comfy bed!

Space with a view
This was a very clean and comfortable cabin with plenty to do and plenty of space. everything was ready to go and we all had a wonderful time...thank you to the hosts for all the little touches. Can’t think of anything that was needed. Special thanks for the firewood delivery, we appreciated it! We enjoyed meeting the host, super nice and friendly people. Hopefully we can make it back, this was a great stay.

Quiet getaway
This sweet property was just what we were looking for - quiet, calm, a place to relax, a chance to enjoy an unhurried schedule. Everything we needed was there. We kayaked, fished, watched freighters, and soaked up the quiet!
