This is one sweet spot. We enjoyed an August week on the pond (which is a misnomer; it's lake-sized), with beautiful views south to Blue Mountain, quiet nights (no cars or road noises) and deeply dark skies. Perfect for kayaking (not included with the house, so we rented them from a shop in Blue Mountain), swimming, reading, cooking, enjoying a glass of wine on the dock or the deck.
It's a small house (one BR), but the view in that bedroom on second floor is even better than the first floor-- with expansive views of the pond and hills, and great light. But there's more: the bedroom has its own small deck, with two chairs, over the pond. The house has pretty much everything you need, with a well equipped kitchen, and an amplifier and speakers, with Bluetooth. The house is just a couple of miles from Route 1, close to Ellsworth and its stores, and near the town of Blue Mountain, which also has food stores (including a co-op), restaurants, galleries and more. The whole peninsula is gorgeous; we drove down to the fishing village of Castine, and from there to Deer Isle and Stonington, another beautiful spot. Acadia is just up the coast, past Ellsworth, on the next peninsula. You can't beat the location!
We had a wonderful time, and would go back in any season.
