Our sun-drenched wooden cottage with 80 m2 is situated on a hill in the middle of the forest with a wonderful view. The tranquillity of nature invites you to relax and decelerate. Hiking and walking trails start right from the doorstep, as does the 20-minute walk to the nearest lake, Nären, where one of Sweden's oldest wooden churches, Skålleruds Kykra, is located. The artists' village of Upperud, which has an art museum and a cosy café, is also within walking distance.
The famous Dalsland Canal with its impressive lock system and boat tours is also only 10 minutes away by car. There you will find delicious restaurants by the lake and a small Coop supermarket.
The nearest larger town, Mellerud, is 15 minutes away by car and has plenty of shops and an indoor swimming pool with sauna for rainy days.
From there it is not far to the third largest lake in Europe, Lake Vänern, which is unforgettable with its white sandy beach "Vita Sandar" and the beautiful Yttre Bodane National Park. Sweden's west coast is also worth a day trip, easily accessible after a 1.5-hour drive. If you like fresh Norwegian fish and historic fortresses, you can also treat yourself to a trip to the nearby Norwegian harbour city of Halden, also 1.5 hours away.
