Charming 19th century stone built cottage. Magnificent location

La Majada Alta is situated within a National Park, and stands in several thousand square metres of private grounds in an exceptionally beautiful area of mountains and lakes. The cottage is ideal for those who will enjoy the relaxing sounds of goat bells or the call of the eagle owl or the sight of eagles drifting overhead. This is also an ideal base for the more active visitor who will find satisfaction from the beautiful walks, the lakes, the white villages, the famous gorge at El Chorro, or the fantastic limestone formations at El Torcal.
If you believe in magic you will love La Majada Alta cottage.


Coast/Beach
The beach resorts of Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella (Costa del Sol) are around 1½ hour drive from the cottage. The Atlantic beaches of Tarifa are approx 3 hours.

Golf
Antequera Golf is 30km or 40 minutes drive. Alhaurin Golf is 45km or 50 minutes drive.

Skiing
The ski resort of Sol y Nieve in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Granada is open from Christmas until the end of April. The lift system is fast and modern with gondolas and 4 man chairs and skiing is up to 3000m with varied runs and a possible 1000m descent. You can be on piste in less than 3 hours from the cottage.

Colin und Francesca sind sehr freundliche Vermieter, die jederzeit ansprechbar bzw. erreichbar sind und sich intensiv um das Wohlergehen ihrer Gäste kümmern.Die Finca entspricht in allem den Beschreibungen auf der Webseite. Leider waren wir zur Zeit der großen Jahrhundertflut dort und hatten dadurch Beeinträchtigungen für die niemand etwas konnte.

Wunderbarer Aufenthalt
Wir waren zu zweit für 2 wunderschöne Wochen in diesem Haus. Es hat an nichts gefehlt, ausser etwas mehr Sonnenschein. :-) Das Haus liegt an einem Berg mit einer wunderschönen Aussicht rundum. Es ist völlig ruhig bis auf die Glöckchen der Ziegen. Wir konnten richtig die Seele baumeln lassen, die Kletterer, die Ziegen und die Greifvögel beobachten. Aufgrund der Abgeschiedenheit (was wir auch suchten) ist allerdings ein Auto von Nöten. Colin gab uns viele gute Tipps, um den Urlaub noch schöner zu machen. Danke hierfür nochmals. Wir können das Haus nur wärmstens empfehlen.

A true stand out property
The beauty of the setting and the property itself is stunning. The owners have worked to provide a gorgeous setting with a lot of room and a stand-out decor. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well-appointed and the views are simply gorgeous. The owner greeted us personally and made sure that we knew just where we were going and where we could obtain provisions and go out to eat. That was a very nice feature. To be sure, those who are lucky enough to stay at this property should be prepared to enjoy "the joy of self-catering" (quote from Colin) and that is certainly reasonable. As such, travelers should expect to provide some of what otherwise might be included in other places they've stayed (example: laundry detergent, paper towels, garbage bags, extra toilet paper). That was easy for us to manage and did not detract one bit from the pleasure of our stay. I've stayed in many countries at many properties and I would rank this as one of the lovliest. .

Fantastische plek!
Wij hebben een fantastische vakantie gehad in een idyllisch huis met prachtig uitzicht. Colin is een geweldige gastheer die veel weet van de omgeving en erg behulpzaam. Het zwembad was heerlijk en er kwam regelmatig iemand om het schoon te maken. Wanneer je van rust en natuur wil genieten dan is dit een aanrader. Elke dag kwamen de berggeiten om water te drinken uit het zwembad. Alleen niet geschikt voor mensen die slecht ter been zijn, omdat je met een trap naar beneden naar het zwembad moet. Wij komen graag weer.

Beautiful cottage with stunning mountain views!
We stayed at Majada alta for 2 weeks with 1 teenager and a 4y.o and we absolutely LOVED it! Every aspect/window of the cottage has an absolutely stunning view. We were frequently visited by the wild mountain goats whenever they needed a drink from the pool - it was such a wholesome experience. The pool was a lifesaver in the intense Andalucia summer heat! Large size and regularly cleaned and maintained. The cottage was fully equipped with pretty much everything you need. A/C worked really well in the rooms (thank the heavens!) and local village has all the essentials we needed. The roads in the village and leading up to the cottage are not for the faint-hearted especially if you haven't driven on those roads before - so just drive slow at first but you soon get used to it. Caminito del rey is just a 10min drive away and lots of other villages nearby to drive to and appreciate the views of the stunning local landscape.. Colin and Francesca were brilliant hosts, from prompt replies and being on hand for any advice we needed and even took the time to show us around- such lovely people! Definitely a memorable experience for us, and would love to come back again one day. Massive thanks to Colin and Francesca. What a magical place this is!

Amazing Location
We absolutely loved our stay. The home is more rustic but was perfect for the two of us. We loved the location. Do your grocery shopping before arrival and then just unplug. There’s plenty of hiking in the area, but we spent our time reading and playing card games. It turned into one of the more relaxing trips we’ve been on. The pool and view is unparalleled. We saw an ibex and watched the goat herders behind the property. Absolutely idyllic.

Perfect Andalusian getaway
This is the third time we have stayed at this beautiful property. Two times in the summer and once in the winter and all three were wonderful. It is a beautiful large house with a well equipped big kitchen and two large bathrooms and three bedrooms. The swimming pool is great and there are beautiful areas to sit outside on the large property. We especially love the mountain that the house is at the foot of. It is a special place. It is also very close to the Caminito Del Rey walking trail which is the reason why we came here the first time. We hope to come again again. Colin the host is always available and very helpful.

A dream house

Paradisiac cottage surrounded with nature
We, a young family + 86 year old granny, had a fantastic and relaxing stay with stunning views around the house. Very comfortable beds, great kitchen for the cooking fans that we are. Colin was so kind to us and of great help during our stay. We will definitely be back :) Thank you so much!

Great Stay
This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset, sunrises, etc. It is very peaceful, clean and spacious. We wished we could have spent more time here. The pool was very refreshing after some long hot dates of traveling. The host is very helpful and friendly.

Wunderbares Ferienhaus in idyllischer Lage
Das Haus liegt wirklich traumhaft in den Bergen mit einem fantastischem Blick über das Tal. Die Ausstattung ist sehr gut und ein besonderer Pluspunkt ist die jeweilige Klimaanlage in den Schlafzimmern. Wir haben den Familienurlaub sehr genossen. Die Bergziegen und die Geier/Adler runden das ländliche Flair ab. Zudem hat der Pool eine perfekte Größe und Tiefe. Einen besonderen Dank geht auch an Colin & Francesca, die sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und hilfsbereit sind. Die Erreichbarkeit und die zügige Reaktionszeit waren toll. Gerne würden wir wiederkommen. Das Ferienhaus ist absolut empfehlenswert. Ralf & Family

Stay in paradise
We stayed for a week and the villa was clean and met every expectation and more. The host Colin was very attentive and always on hand should we need for recommendations of restaurants and where to go. The Villa offered a fantastic pool with amazing views and was suited to our family with three teens. Colin met us to take us to the villa even though this was after midnight and this was much appreciated. The area is lovely and quiet and very peaceful, however you can still access busier parts if you required which are a drive away. This was a really beautiful and secluded area with stunning gardens surrounding the villa. There was mountains in front and behind the villa which meant every entrance had natural beauty that you can escape in. The holiday in itself was amazing and would definitely recommend this property to anyone else who wishes to visit the area. Colin was also attentive to our needs noticing our late arrival and asked us for a shopping list which he ensured was at the villa on our arrival as we had three hungry teens! Would love to stay again! This villa was roomy, homely and met each of our individual needs. Thanks Colin and Francesca!

Traumhafter Urlaub
Wir können uns allen anderen nur anschließen. Das Ferienhaus liegt in einer wunderschönen Gegend, in der man klettern, wandern und zahlreiche Tiere beobachten kann. Morgens beim Frühstück fliegen die Geier am Himmel und man kann die Bergziegen in den Felsen beobachten (Fernglas zu empfehlen), nachmittags kommen diese dann zum Trinken zum Pool. Da wir in der Hitzewelle dort waren, kamen oft über 8 Bergziegen mit ihrem Nachwuchs. Wir hatten oft das Gefühl bei Heidi in den Bergen zu sein. Der Wind pustete durch die Nadelbäume und früh morgens und abends zum Sonnenuntergang hörte man die Glocken der Ziegen, die vom Hirten abgeholt und wiedergebracht wurden. Bei unseren morgendlichen Spaziergängen mit unseren Hunden haben wir auch Wildschwein, Dachs, Schlangen und Geckos begrüßen dürfen. Die Wanderung im "caminito del rey" war spektakulär. Das Haus selbst ist sehr sauber und es ist alles vorhanden was man braucht, es war unter zahlreichen Ferienhäusern, welche wir über die Jahre besucht haben, das Beste. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, wir fühlten uns sehr willkommen! In diesem Sinne möchten wir uns auch nochmal recht herzlich bei Colin und Franzeska bedanken, die schon vor der Ankunft sehr bemüht waren, dass es uns gut geht. Liebe Grüße von der ganzen Familie und bleibt gesund.

Absolutely stunning.
A beautiful property in a picture perfect location. Clean and fresh and I thought it felt bigger than in the pictures. The host was easy to get in touch with and showed us to the property from the local village. I will miss sitting outside and admiring the gorgeous 360° views.

Magischer Ort
Das Haus ist wunderschön. Besonders für diejenigen, die Abgeschiedenheit, Ruhe und Privatsphäre gerne mögen. Die Aussicht von beiden Terrassen über die schöne Landschaft ist gut und das ganze Grundstück einfach perfekt, irgendwie magisch. Das Innere des Hauses ist ebenfalls richtig gut, ich fühlte mich von der ersten Sekunde an sehr wohl. Insgesamt eine der besten Reise-Erfahrungen meines ganzen Lebens. Großes Danke an die Vermieter, die hier alles, und zwar wirklich alles, richtig machen.

Exploring Southern Spain
Staying at this Spanish Cottage in the hills of Southern Spain is like you are in a dream. The cottage has a quaint country Spanish feel and it is just like the online pictures. There was plenty of room for the four of us. We had everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and cooking items. We even used the barbecue one night to cook dinner. The pool area is lovely! The views are spectacular as you are high on a hill. We do suggest you have a car to get around as the closest market store is about a 15 minute drive away on windy roads. There are plenty of small villages to explore in the area and we suggest you visit Antequera. We used the cottage as our home base to visit Granada, Cordoba and a must see white village, Frigiliana, in the Costa del Sol area. The property offers a quiet relaxing space to come back to after a day of exploring or if you are looking for total relaxation this is a great property. Our hosts Colin and Francesca were delightful, hospitable and responded quickly to any communications we had. We recommend this property!
