Wonderful Vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable and clean. The pictures online donā€™t depict just how large the house isā€¦we were so impressed and awed. My daughter and her boyfriend really enjoyed the pool and used it daily. I enjoyed the kitchen with two ovens, multiple sinks and lots of counter space. The mud room/laundry room with its charming half door was an excellent place to put the dogs when we were away. They could watch the goings on outside from the door and we were assured they were not getting on the furniture. Everybody we encountered at the farm was extremely friendlyā€¦including the mules, horses and the very vocal rooster! The house itself is old and in need of some TLC-at times it felt like we were invading someoneā€™s home with all the personal clutter inside. But nonetheless we had a relaxing and fun time. Thank you for the much needed vacation!

If you're looking for a farmhouse on a working farm...

....this is the place to be. The farmhouse itself was very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the pool and movie room. It was fun walking around the property and interacting with the farm animals. We'd definitely stay here again.

I cannot express enough how much i loved this place! Cozy farmhouse! I felt like i was walking back in time, waiting for my grandma to take some biscuits out of the oven. The grounds was so beautiful and we are planing another trip soon!

Gorgeous Getaway--Some TLC Would Make It Perfect!

The setting is gorgeous and relaxing. We would wake up and sip hot chocolate on the deck, watching the deer graze in the meadow. The donkeys, goats, and pigs were a fun addition. The inside of the house was clean and had all the kitchen appliances necessary for our stay. However, the home is a bit dated and needs general repairs. A closet door in the entryway was hanging awkwardly. A panel on the outside of the kitchen counters was hanging by one nail. The upstairs hall toilet was a bit rocky. The bunk beds are not in a room of their own. They are actually in the hallway between the three upstairs bedrooms. Not a problem, just a heads up for those using the beds. Overall, the home fit our needs and was close to everything my family planned to do while visiting the area. The stunning scenery made the stay!

Great Place to Stay

The farm house was amazing! We enjoyed the country side and the quiet. It was a cozy place for our family reunion. There are some things that could be fixed or updated but overall the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The property manager was amazing and so accommodating. We would definitely stay again and look forward to it.

Great location near Nelson 151

We loved the location, and it's was fun to visit with the animals. Wish we were able to sample some of the chicken eggs. There is a bit of deferred maintenance, some water damage in the kitchen. Would also have been great if there was a hair dryer available, especially as the weather gets colder. All in all a fun stay at a farm with a great location.

A quiet escape near many activities

The farm is a perfect base camp for enjoying Nelson County and the 151 byway. It is quiet and peaceful but still super close if looking to enjoy hiking Humpback (can be seen from the property), enjoying the craft beer and wine trail, or enjoying the seasonal activities - an evening corn maze was a highlight. Kitchen has ample space to cook or set up a buffet of takeout from the roadside BBQ and weekend food trucks frequently found at the nearby breweries. And the season decor in the farmhouse adds ambiance to the great togetherness time the property inspires.

Absolute Serenity

This farmhouse was one of the best properties weā€™ve ever visited. And had everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked. The pool was amazing and the space and views went on forever. We enjoyed the farm animals animals the wildlife, and the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge mountains would highly recommend this place, we will be back!

We loved our long weekend at the farm. It was a great experience seeing the sights of the area, witn lots of ample space for our family time together. Beautiful property and location, needs some extra work

The location is beautiful, close to wineries and hiking and the donkeys/goats on the farm were so much fun for children. The pool was a wonderful plus and was so much fun. We had some problems during our stay that were somewhat addressed. The host forwarded us the downstairs AC would be broken and they put as many fans as possible which helped immensely and they were very forthcoming before we arrived with the issue. The home was not as clean or organized as I have come to expect and could use some more detailed cleaning between guests. We also had an issue with mice in the home and some bugs in the kitchen which soured our stay. Hopefully this will be addressed before additional guests stay at the property. Overall, it is a very spacious home and private property perfect for families and groups that if additional cleaning and pest control are arranged would be 5 stars.

Wow - Exceeded Expectations

The house had a huge kitchen, dining room and common room for socializing. You could spend hours going from room to room looking at the antiques, furnishings and art. Huge collection of VHS tapes and DVD's if you want to spend time in front of the TV. Beds were overall very comfortable and the house was very clean. The pool was the biggest attraction for our hot summer visit and very nice that plenty of pool towels were provided. Simply the most unique and awesome house rental experience I've ever had!

A little piece of Heaven

I was a family member attending our mini family reunion. My age is 77 and this is important to know for this review. I will begin with the only drawback and that being, I wish we had one or 2 more bedrooms. That said, all was ok because some did not make it. Now! To my review! I fell in love with your homestead, to the point I would love it for my family and myself. I live in the Adirondacks and was born in the Smokies however, I am in love with your Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains! I understand how this farm became a joyful gathering place over the years for your loved ones. I never left the property but my family members found plenty to do including tubing the James River and that magnificent tunnel! (a must from their videos and excitement). Their day of adventures away from the house, I spent with the family dog soaking up the gorgeous view, visiting the farm animals and sitting around the pool. The day was too short for me. There were books, antiques and rooms in this old home I didnā€™t get to see and fully visit. I felt like a Walton! I will be back! The caretakers were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We could not ask for better service. However, we needed little because everything was available and at hand. I would love them as neighbors! Southern hospitality, at its best! Thank you for opening your home for us to enjoy. I will be back to visit this little piece of Heaven.

Great house for a large family

We traveled with our children and some extended family for a 4 night stay. This house was a great location for exploring Monticello/Charlottesville, as well as the surrounding vineyards and breweries. We love the feel of a farmhouse thatā€™s not ā€œtoo fussyā€ yet very nicely decorated and appointed with modern amenities. Everything was clean and as described (the only thing missing was the horse that apparently passed away). The pool was perfect and picturesque against the other 200-year-old building that is also on property. Iā€™d definitely love to return and Iā€™d recommend this property to other visitors to the area.

Wonderful Getaway

This property exceeded my expectations and communication with Linda was always prompt and responsive. This farm house is like taking a step back in time. The animals were friendly and fun to feed. The beds were comfortable. The only hiccup was we needed a blender and couldn't find one anywhere. I would stay here again. Great house and property.

Perfect Farm

Huge house with tons of character. Lots of space for our group. Movies, games and activities everywhere. Huge kitchen with everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. I had no idea 2 ovens would be so helpful.
